No sound

Ok, so I bought a JVC kd-hdr60 for my ford explorer and some polk audio speakers and a kenwood amp for them. My head unit turns on and my amp turns on, but I'm getting no sound out of my speakers at all. Any ideas on the problem? Everything seems to be working fine on the head unit to I just dont get sound out. Also I checked the RCA cable connections and they're fine so thats not the problem.

*also when I switch the low pass filter on the amp back and forth I get a crackling noise out of the speakers so they're hooked up right also, or at least I think that would mean they are.

Are the RCA connections plugged into the correct ports? Output on the radio / input on the amp

Are the speakers plugged into the amp properly?

Unplug 1 speaker and touch a 9 volt battery to it. If you hear a little pop when you put it on and take it off...then your speakers are connected right.

If you do not hear the pop...then check the speaker connection from the amp to the speaker. Do this for all of your speakers one at a time.

Yes all the RCA's are in the right spot, and like I said I get that crackling from messing with the amp, so the speakers are good as well. I'm thinking the head unit might just be a lemon??

does the h/u have an option to turn the rca's on..Usually only subs have that option but check.

Use an ipod/iphone and hook up your RCA to that. If the cracking happens, then its not the HU. If it goes away, then it could be a HU issue

Check to see if your remote wire is touching the ground in anyway....

Mine was touching the ground SOMEHOW, and i got no sound at all from anywhere, didn't hurt anything though.

I tried plugging a my Iphone directly into the amp with a RCA to headphone jack cable. It put sound through the speakers but it sounded freaken weird... and thanks kidthump I'll check to make sure the remote wire isnt touching the ground anywere.
