No Sound from amp

Here is what I have. 2004 Ford Ranger w/ factory radio/cd player. Bought a square kicker subwoofer, and a 600kx amp (kicker as well). Had circuit city do it for the $60 install fee.(Just so I didn't have to try to drill through the firewall). I have had this system with no complaints for about 5 years now. I was driving the other day and the sub cut out. I was ok maybe it overheated or something, I don't know. I did eventually come back on after the red light. Worked fine. A day later and nothing. I pulled the cd player out (factory) and nothing was messed up there. Next I checked to make sure the wires from the back of the speaker didn't magically come undone. Spring loaded so no they didn't. I got a green power light, it comes on as well as the red light on top, decoration I assume. What could it be? Is it the Line Out Converter that has gone bad? Or the RCA wires? That is really all I can assume. If I do go to buy a new LOC then what do I buy? There are a ton of different choices. I just got the one amp and the one speaker. Good brands versus bad brands? Anything else it could be? Everything is hooked up right, getting the lights and all, just not the slightest sound from the speaker. The LOC was a Tsunami brand if that makes a difference.

Figure I would ask here first before buying everything I don't need or know about.

You could have blown your sub, disconnect the subwoofer and see if the amp powers on every time and if your amp lights up green.

Using a DMM test your subs resistance. Try this first.

I had a different sub I hooked up and still nothing. The loc I had was a Tsunami brand, been looking, and so many to choose from I don't know what to get (brand) or if it matters. Not sure how you would do the jumper wire thing.

Worked fine for 6 years and now factory ford radio. Blah, I need my bass.

run the pos and neg speaker wires from the door and splice it into an rca cable and plug it into your amp, or find something else, i.e. a house stereo reciever u can plug in in the garage and run an rca into your amp

Bud, I would just get a rca to 3.5 mini jack aux cable and hook an mp3 player up to the RCA on the amp and see if it plays, then you know that its not a blown channel as far as a new LOC, fierce audio isn't bad for 15 bucks...

Don't know much about amps and such, but I just bought a cheap crap LOC and we will see if that works when it comes in. If I am wrong, I'm out less than 5 bucks. Can do the general stuff, but after having seizures, I can't think like I used to, and the meds are worse! Feel retarded when I can't do things I used to be able to do without thinking twice.

Thank Goodness for the internet!!

That and forums.

If I would have just bought a sweet radio to go with the system, I would have the RCA jacks, but it was good enough for me.

Can't I screw something up by hooking things up with different Ohms? I beleive the speaker is only 1 Ohm. House speakers are what?
