No sound coming from speakers - help!!!

then answer my questions.

does the amp turn on?

are your RCA's hooked up correctly?

does your Headunit require you to turn on the RCA output?

are you using a remote knob for the amp? if so is the remote knob turned down to 0 while the you were setting your gains?

the amp turns on. The sub plays on channels 3/4 just fine. i can plug the rcas for the front channels for channels 3/4 and the sub plays so it doesn't seem like it is a problem with the rcas. Maybe i need to do something with the head unit.

Another wierd thing is that when i hook the front speakers to the amp, and the rear speakers are still connected to the head unit, neither play.

Maybe the internal amp has to be shut off??

English Motherfvcker. Do you speak it?
Dumbass.

does your amp turn on??are the RCA"S plugged into the to correct RCA inputs on the AMP?

does your HU ask you to "Turn On" your RCA Output? look in the manual.

take a speaker lead from one of the speaker off of the amps output.

take that speaker wire lead and hook it up to your Head units normal speaker output wires and see if you get any audio.
You may want to do that, there is a possibility that your OEM vehicle system had an oem amp. if so those wires are only signal running into the OEM amp. What car is this? What kind of OEM system did it have?

just hook the speakers up to the amp.
i dont know why you are running a million different wires.
I don't know why you're so fvcking stupid to understand thats what he did.

so then whats the problem.
try messing around with the high/low pass settings.

or switching around teh rca's

you did connect rca's right?
Just stfu.

The internal amp shouldn't have to be turned off for the pre-outs to work, you said yourself you get signal to the sub if you swap the rca's from the front.

What amp is this?

the amp is a 4-channel alpine MRP-F450. My car is a 2002 buick century. The OEM sound system was Concert Sound 2.

Does it matter if i connect the wires before or after the wire harness?

Why are you touching the wire harness? Obviously you're doing something HORRIBLY wrong...my guess is everything.

There is NO REASON the speaker wires should be going into your dash anymore...they should be running to the amp (which, I presume, is in the trunk/back). Make sure your head unit realizes that there is an external amp hooked up (and that it's turned on at the head unit).

I REPEAT MYSELF. THE ONLY THINGS THAT SHOULD BE HOOKED UP TO THE HEAD UNIT ARE THE POWER, ACC, GROUND, TURN-ON WIRES, AND RCAs. NO SPEAKER WIRE SHOULD GO TO THE HEAD UNIT ANYMORE. STOP TALKING ABOUT THE WIRE HARNESS AND LEAVE IT ALONE.

Ignore the majority of these dumbasses, save nismos. Sounds to me like the wires from your amp that are tapped into your existing wires are just going to the (if there is one) factory amp for your door speakers. Try pulling the speakers out of the door and just connecting them direcvtly to the amp (like, with a 1' piece of wire). If that works, then just run new wires straight from the amp to the speaker terminals.

alright, i will give that a try. I was really hoping that i wouldn't have to run wires into the door panels though..........

are factory amps usually hidden pretty well, or is there a chance i could get rid of it?

You are quite ignorant aren't you?

Good idea there.
