No One Can Say they Didn't See it Coming

There was $430 million spent on the levees since the mid-90's, and $250 million left to spend on updating them before the storm hit. The ACE determined that a levee protecting the city against a cat3 hurricane would be sufficient due to the drainage system. It's just plain to stupid to say that 80% of the damage could have been prevented.

If the levees were perfect and didn't fail amidst the 150mph winds of a hurricane, and if the New Orleans government cared about more than just lining their pockets, and if the drains didn't fail, and if the city wasn't below sea level and trapped in a virtual bowl, and if there wasn't any actual hurricane, the city wouldn't be under water.

YEAH HE IS COMPLETELY RITE i saw on the news that new orleans is 17-23ft below sea level....and its between the gulf coast and the river...so with all that water..i'm sure a rainy day is more like a downpour with all the moisture in the air

I think bush is full of shit, thats why no one is helping him, he needs to step down if not we will be gone. Just look at gas, gas stations here are at 3.50 and most of them are CLOSING DOWN belive it or not.

That article is BS propoganda from another country. It has been known since the begining of time that New Orleans could be a disaster area. I feel bad for those people and pray for them all but building a city on the Gulf Cost that is bellow sea level = stupid. Same as the people who keep building on the side of hills and mountains in Cali that keep getting washed away in mud slides, or building a house on stilts on the shore line and getting it wiped away every few years from a huricaine.

I remember while in junior high talking about New Orleans being flooded some day, it was part of american history or geogrophy or something. Thats been like 11-13 or so years ago. Its always been known.
