No need for remote with the kenwood kac-8104d?????

I was shopping around for an amp to power my type r sub and as I was reading the spec's on the kenwood kac-8104d, I noticed it said that there is no need for a turn on lead to the amp. The rca input (or the speaker level input) would detect power to turn on the amp. Was I reading it right? If it really does work w/out a remote wire how well does it work and are there any other amps like this?
