no mids on alpine eq?!

i have 2 pairs of pioneer TS-C160R components, a 10" alpine type R, two kicker amps, and an alpine CDA-9856 receiver. there is no mid level adjustment feature on the alpine receiver, only bass and treble, and the vocals often get drowned out. any suggestions? maybe change the focus of the treble range on the treble control in the bass engine feature? maybe i need to mess with those little boxes that are in my doors to control the componenets?

treble is down to neg 2 bc of how powerful tweeters are.

but cutting out the bass would be cutting out a lot of the texture, and a lot of the reason i spent almost 3 grand (incl installation) on a system.

i appreciate the advice, but cant i buy an EQ or mess with those "boxes" in my door?

the box is better known as a crossover.. check the crossover point

Also check the gain on the component amp and the setting of the tweeter level adjustment (if the crossover has one). You can usually dial the tweet down a bit on the crossover.

you have a 2-band parametric EQ on your headunit. (if you have the same type of alpine i do that is). if you hit the >> or > while on bass until you see it display something like 100hz or 150hz +\- [insert number].

same with treble.

otherwise, you will need to play with the settings on your amps, deaden your doors, do kickpods, or get new midbass speakers all together.

I'm assuming since he referred to a crossover as a box that he also payed someone for installation, which is usually 1/2 or more of the total price.

Like someone already said, knock down your bass a bit if you want to hear your mids better. Think about it this way, let's say your listening to your headunit at 20/34, with your settings the way they are now. If you reduce your bass a bit you may find it blends better, however you are now missing the impact (texture), that the music had before. Most likely if you turn you volume up to say, 23-25, you're sub will be just as loud as it was before on 20, except now your mids are rocking right along side it. Basically you can still get just as loud, but things will be in better proportion.
