No JL now...maybe Kicker???

well I was reading about the Kicker Zx1500 and Zx2500 mono amps and boy they seem to be very effecient and output what they say for a very reasonable price...compared to JL. I really do not mind paying good money for quality amps at all. Was thinking about getting a JL1000/1v2 or 2 JL HD750/1. To me the RIPS technology is the biggest seller. But then I saw the Zx series of Kicker, especially the 2500.1 Thats a ton of power at 2ohms. It says it uses a 300 amp fuse! But whatever the case I did search on here about the Zx2500.1 and most seem to think it is a very good amp. although, of course I do have a few more questions...

1.) Can you do a Kicker Zx2500.1 along with my JL HD600/4 on stock alternator. I do have the BIG 3 done in 0/1 and a Kinetik 1800 battery up front??? I do not compete whatsover and listen to my music at medium volume 80% of the time. I just want a setup that for the 20% can make my head spin, eyes see double, and eventually make me deaf //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif with that being said yes or no with stock alt??

2.) I did notice it does 2500 watts at 2ohm at 14.4v. What daily driver can maintain that kind of voltage. Definitely not me I'm sure, so with voltage drops probably in the low 12's maybe what kind of power are you then getting??

3.) And do you think The JL amps are better because of RIPS allowing the amps to put at the rated power to any voltage from 11-15v and any load level??

4.) How effecient are Kicker ZX amps?

thanks everyone!

1) No way in hell you can run that much power on a stock alternator

2) Should at lest be getting about 2000w at 12v. But if you're already getting voltage drops, you need to address that now before adding any more power.

3) I don't think those amps are terribly efficient, but I could be wrong. Comb through the manual and figure it out

1. kicker 2500's (kx/zx) are very efficent, and are some of the best quality amps for the price on the market. hands down best 400-500 dollar investment. i've played with many many amps, and i went back to my kx 2500.1 because its a bad *** mofo.

2. you will at the very least need to get a another battery for the trunk. another 1800 bare minimum, i recommend a 2400 or simular battery for the back. It's going to stress the hell out of and probably fry something if you run a 2500 and your other amp off just a 1800 up front with a stock alty.

3. you can somewhat maintain voltage by only bumping with your rpm's at or above 2k. dont bump hard with your rmp's at idle. with a stock alty this will help a little bit, but you should seriously consider getting a new alty and or a battery for the backl. either a big alty up front or a big bat in the back will do for now, but for the best results and best thign for you car and equipment you'll want to get both.

4. with JL you pay extra for a brand name. there are countless other products both well known and not well known that do circles around JL products and at half the price.

The JL Audio amp uses a regulated power supply which is inherently less efficient than a non-regulated design. Which one's more beneficial depends on your system. With JL's regulated design, your power remains relatively the same down to something like 10 or 11 volts, while with a non-regulated design, output will vary based on voltage. However, the JL does requires increasing amperage to maintain the output for the decreasing voltage.

so when your votage drops what would you notice with a JL RIPS design to a non regulated design?? Music would stay louder and consistent with JL?? Music would lose some power, volume, and clarity with the non-regulated design?? or would you not notice a difference between both musically??

When you're talking about the same amount of power, the JL would give you more consistent volume, but won't make it any louder than a properly-fed unregulated amp. But you need to fix issues in your charging system before you add any more power. If you're getting voltage drops, you're going to shorten the life of your equipment no matter what technology you have.

set your transmission to neutral while u're at red light so the alternator ca charges more.

I got a cheap walmart plug in alternator voltage measure that plug in the cigarret hole, i monitor how my alternator works and when i actually run the car the voltage drops rapidly , id on't know what drags it down, then when i stop at red light, shift gear to neutral it came back to 12 V or more.
