No BASS from sub. Why??

I changed my HU from a basic Kenwood HU to a Alpine 9847. I have not touched the Clarion 2x75 watt amp that is powering one 10" Premier Sub. When I had the Kenwood HU installed the sub was really bassy, sounded good. After installing the Alpine HU and, using the sub preout on HU, I can no longer hear the bass from the sub. . I have even tweeked with EQ on HU, turned down the gain on amp. I don't understand this! I'm now using the better Alpine HU. Does anyone know why this is?

Is the amp turning on at all?

The amp is working and the sub is hitting hard but, can't hear any bass from it. I was only able to get the sub to produce very little bass and this is with the BBE on, EQ/bass at -6, sub level on HU maxed, the gain on amp is halfway, using LP on amp, bass boost gain on amp on near max. Sub is pushing hard to get barely any bass at all. With the cheap Kenwood HU and the amp gain at 85%+ it pushed the same and sounded very good (normal) with a lot of bass. Just doesn't make any sense to me. Oh, and the amp is turned on when the HU is powered on. I hope this info helps. Thanks for quick replys!

Well the box does leak, sub and box is sealed poorly. That has to be the reason. I just didn't think so because I immediately switched HU's and the sub was sounding good just before I did the switch.

One thing I did leave out tho is when I turn the HU's volume up past 20 the crisp quality sound coming from the speakers powered by the HU's internal amp are also lost and kinda muffled sounding. Kinda like when you zero out or flatten the treble. And this happens when the treble is set to +7. Is this normal? I thought maybe so if the HU's 4 ch. wattage is really low. On the kenwood unit the internal amp sounded much more powerful too. Any additional thought or knowledge would help me move on to fix my screw-ups!

Maybe the pre out voltage on the Alpine isn't the same as the Kenwood was, try turning up the gain on the amp.

Why is your bass EQ at -6, and your tweet at +7????
