No alternator=Change of plans :(((((((

wow, thanks for all the input! few questions....

1.) So basically it seems that i can still do my dream system with upgraded wiring and an amazing battery!!!!!!!!????????????

2.) How and why does voltage drop and what does it do??

3.) Now with the jl audio 1000/1 it has the R.I.P.S technology and puts out 1000watts at 11-15volts. Now isn't that awesome for people who can't upgrade alternator and electrical because you still get the great power out of the amp at even a lower voltage???

4.) Since the 1000/1 is class D is it more effecient???

5.) Should I do one good KINETIC, agm, ect... battery or do two batteries??

6.) Does altering alternator or putting a new one in void warranty????

thanks so much everyone!!!

The JL amp is very efficient and the regulated power supply will make it maintain good power in your setup.

Voltage drop is when your car is running it will settle around 14v DC or around there. When you play music at full power that DC voltage will drop due to the amps drawing power. You dont want it to drop below 11v DC.

With 1 medium to large AGM battery your voltage should stay above 11 or 12 and with 2 AGM batteries it will stay above 12 or even 13 when the car is on.

Changing the alternator can void the warranty.

Tis why I didn't change mine.

FYI I am running a Memphis 1000D and a Alpine PDX4.150 (1700wrms total) with no light dim. Running stock alt and front batt with a Kinetic HC1400 in the trunk. BIG3 done in 1/0 and pos/neg 1/0 run from alt to back battery. I don't know the exact voltage drop but being I have no light dim I will estimate its not lower then 12v. I will get out there sometimes this weekend with my DMM...

EDIT:

I should add thought that my stock alt is 140amps...
