NINe.1 issue

installed a friends system today and his brand new NINe.1 is acting funny. with just the remote, postive, and negative connected, once he turns on the car, about 3 seconds later, the amplifier blows all of its fuses.

no rca's, no gain control chord, no speaker wire attached. None of hte wires were touching each other anywhere. the mounting screws and what not dont ground into anything metal.

what gives?

^how'd it turn out now? and where did you get it repaired for $50. sounds like you got a deal or was it warranty?
This is straight from Alex at ED.

"Sorry for the delay.

The issue associated with you amplifier is not something that is covered under a manufacturers defect.

It also appears that the rear cover was removed which is a void of warranty.

Normally a rebuild is $150, but the problem with this amplifier is very minimal.

It will be $50 to rebuild the amplifier.

Thank you.

Alex

I'm not sure what caused it, it did it kind of randomly actually. It just fried all 4 fuses as he said about 3 seconds after it turned on, tried to keep turning on but eventually went up in a big cloud of smoke. My ground is good, all connections were secure, so if it does it again. I may shit myself.

did you remove the rear cover?
yeah, there wasn't a seal on it and i didn't even think about the warranty when i did it, and i didn't even know it voided the warranty. i actually took some pics of the internal parts of it and posted em on this forum. and noone said anything about it. not sure how they knew i removed it.

either way, it doesn't matter...it wasn't covered by the warranty anyway.

there's a 150 amp fuse on the mainline to the back, there it splits from 0 to a 4 and an 8 via a tsunami distro block.

the mainline fuse is just fine.

he already emailed eD, so i guess a rebuild is in order for him? he hasnt removed anything from the amplifier, is it going to be free?

wear inside the screws? idk bummer man, i dont know what to say.....

it seems anytime something goes wrong it is always your fault and warrenties dont cover that specific thing....happened to my uncle's Taurus SHO, wanted 8g for a new motor. he bought a new car

another thing he wants to know (he's sitting right here, so i'm just typing as he talks lol). when the NINe.1's fuses blow, and he lets the radio keep playing, his NINe.2 and eDi6500s components will play, but they'll randomly cut in and out. Once he takes the blown fuses out of the NINe.1 and lets the radio play, the cutting out issues are eliminated. what's up with that?

The problem with mine wasn't a manufacturer defect, thus making it not covered by the warranty. If indeed your problem is the same, which it seems to me, it wouldn't make since why yours wouldn't be 50 bucks to repair either. I'm going to call them tomorrow and see what exactly the problem was, and ill get back to you and let you know.

ground is a-ok. sanded off everything down to bare shiney floorpan metal. tsunami grounding block. 4awg from NINe.1 and 8awg from NINe.2 combine back togehter into a 0awg via a tsunami distro and go to the grounding block.

My nine.1 also fried. But when i hooked it up with only power ground and remote the fuses don't blow which is kinda funny. It was working fine in the morning and i came back out that night and when i turned my car on the gain knob light didn't come on and when i went back to the amp the power light wasn't on. I sent it into ed a month ago and still haven't heard anything back on whether its being repaired under warranty or if i have to pay anything and i've emailed them and called them.

hmmmm...this is odd...

i dont know if this effects anything but what about the remote turn-on....maybe its got to high of an amperage....someone correct me if im wrong
