Nice in dash dvd/cd/nav combo

I'm looking for a nice in dash dvd/cd/nav unit. I've been looking at some of the eclipse units like the AVN6600 and the AVN5500 but I pretty much don't have a clue what to look for as far as quality goes. The only requirements I have is that it fits a double-sized dash opening, and I'd really like to keep it under 1,000 dollars. I'm not set on either of these units so please feel free to offer other suggestions.

Go to best buy and buy a dvd player that straps to ur headrest,then go buy a hand held nav unit?

The 205/Blackbird combo can be picked up for around $1000 on ebay. Maybe a little more. Do you want the one that slides into the 205 though or the portable one? I couldn't find the hub one on ebay... just the portable.

The Alpine Unit itself cost around 650 and the blackbird cost about 650 so thats way to much money. I also don't like the alpine as much because its only 2v and the eclipse is 5v.

I've own an older model eclipse before but sold it due to poor mp3 performance. The nav is topnotch and accurate. Only time it gave me problems was on a very overcast day. One down side of the nav is that it's single slot so you'll have to do some disc swapping if there's any changes during the route to your destination. The sound is great as expected from eclipse. Sound processing/EQ is pretty basic but good enough. Also one of the few units out there with high voltage preamp outputs. As I mentioned the mp3 playback was alittle poor for my likings. It was just a little too slow skipping between songs (4-5 seconds) compared to the Alpine w200 (instantaneous). Also tried hooking my friend's ipod to it and it screwed up the ipod and he lost all his music.

I'm looking at the kenwood dnx7100 right now. Only downside to this is the 2v preouts but I don't seem to notice the differences between 2v and 4v anyways.

Yes, just ground the parking brake wire.

I looked at the D3 but it only has 2v and I can get the Eclipse AVN-5510 for basically the same price..... but it would be b/t those two units.
