Well, it finally happened folks. The Red Wings were shutout on Thursday night by St. Louis. This is the first time the Wings were shut out since Jan. 7, 2004. That was a span of 175 games without being blanked. St. Louis used 2 goaltenders because Holmstrom was checked into Legace which knocked him out of the game and his replacement was equally good. Bad thing about it for Red Wing fans isn't just the loss. It was squandering a GREAT performance by backup goaltender Joey MacDoald who stopped 29 of 30 shots. The Red Wings only had a total of 23 SOG as a whole team. The St. Louis goal actually bounced off 2 players and went into the net off of Chris Chelios.

Oh well, sometimes it comes down to one lucky bounce. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I'm not going to argue it. But I don't know if they will. They have a great record but remember most of those wins are because of the WEAK Eastern Conference. Don't get me wrong, Buffalo is a great team this year but you can't make that judgment based on their record. As a Red Wing fan I know this more than anyone else. A great regular season means DICK once the post season starts.
we have youth on our side, plus our goalies arent almost 50 and injury prone

the last game i went to were the eastren conference finals last year, paid 500 for 2 tix and that was the game carolina shut us out at home..........right now i live in university heights by UB. i have friends that have season tix now, but the problem is i can only go to weekend games and those for some reason arent the games being offered to me. the next game i will be attending is the stanley cup finals here in buffalo later this year in june

Yeah, I would have to agree. NOT SO YAY this year. 6 points out of the final playoff spot. Not totally out of it yet though, still have a chance to get in.
So whats so great about Hemsky.?? 9 goals and 33 assists isn't much to brag about.
Some of the best offensive eyes in the game. Fast skater, excellent wrist shot, best passer in recent memory. Stats don't make the player. He'll be over 100pts/year in the next two years

but then look again on how long the sharks have been in the NHL comparired to the Wings

Ok then lets compare how many cups the Wings have won since San Jose has been in the league.

Sharks joined in the 91-92 season and the Red Wings have won 3 Stanley Cups since then. '97, '98 and '02. Don't get me wrong San Jose has had some good teams over the years but never a serious contender. This year could be different.

What are you trying to say? The Red Wings are not as old as they were just last year. I think they will have much better legs this year come playoff time. As far as goalies are concerned, Hasek has looked very good as of late and so does Joey McDonald. Hasek only sits out the 2nd of back to back games. Other than that he's been very solid. Tied for the league lead in WINS, GA Avg. and SHUTOUTS. Not too bad for an old man. But stats mean nothing. Its what happens in the playoffs that matters most.

I'll believe that when I see it. I'm sure he's good and is capable. But too many things can happen between now and then.

hes got the talent, you will see him break 100 points, it may not be within a year or two, but in his career, he will, I seen him play in juniors, hes a special talent. I play in Junior B and get to watch alot of players in junior A that'll be on their way to the NHL, and when i was able to see him play, you knew he was a superstar in the making. its just gonna take time and maturity, hes only 23

Don't get me wrong, I believe you. But I still say I will believe he hits 100 points when I see it.

His play has already improved considerably over last years. His backchecking and defensive awareness have increased, as has his balance and speed. He's far better than his numbers suggest. There's a reason Jagr demanded that Hemsky play on his line at the worlds. I used to play with some decent NHL talent (Comrie, Stoll (sort of, training camp) ) about 8-10 years ago and in Hemsky I see far more potential. There's a reason Mac T signed him to a 6 year deal. Petr Sykora says Hemsky is the most talented player he's ever played with. Considering his run with Jersey and specifically Elias, that's saying a lot. He's good shit
