Newb needs help....12" W7 or 12"L7???

Wsup everyone.....I'm new to the forum and I need some help deciding what subwoofer I should get.....I drive an '01 Acura CL and am looking to replace my 2 JL 10" w6's.....i was very unpleased with how hard they hit because I really wanted something where it hit hard, was loud, but still maintained the clarity. I have an ARC audio kar series amp 1000.1 that will power the new subwoofer but I am on a budget, so I would like to get the most bang for my buck.....I have narrowed it down to a 12" JL W7 or the kicker L7's 12" (I don't know if one sub will be koo or if I need 2 to be satisfied with the bass).....Please help with any input that you guys have because I haven't heard either sub and need to make a decision asap......Thanks in advance...

List specs. for your amp.If it's a mono amp it really isn't going to make any power for the W7.

w7 is best for SQL, which it sounds like you want

I would do 2 12w6v2's sealed I was very pleased with that setup in a large suv and in a smaller car they sound even better.

The L7 will wang off of 1000 watts and so will the W7. i believe the l7 would have higher output but the w7 would sound a lot better doing it. not to say the w7 won't get loud because it will.

edit* i had 2 l7's off of around 900 watts each in a sealed box it was was rediculous. wasnt the nicest sounding thing in the world but it was loud. from what you've said you want SQL and the W7 would be more you're route, but a lot of people will argue a l7 in the proper enclosure sounds good too so.

Thanks for the input guys......just out of curiosity, how would the 2 12" w6v2's compare with the one 12" w7?.....Also, are the factory sealed enclosures for the

w7's gonna be koo or are something that's more custom better?

its true the l7 will wang on 1000.1, but 2 l7's on a 1000.1 would wang extra, but, the 12w7 will wang on any thng over 500 rms and have much btter sq, i personally have used w7;s found them louder and clearer then the squares

I would build or buy a new ported box to put your current subs in. I am assuming that they are currently in a sealed setup?? The ported box will give you the output you are looking for, those are good subs but if you just want something new then go ahead, that is how I am.

a box like these, I do not know if these are any good but a design like these would make you setup much much louder

yea i'll have to agree with HAVINGFUN. you have some very nice subs. try to build a different box, and go ported if it isn't ported already.

If you looking for more output but don't car about sound quality go with the L7.

If your looking for a sub to sound good but not get as loud as the L7 go with the W7.

personally, i am not into the sound of the square woofers. never heard a solo X, but the L7's just don't do it for me. i would go with the W7.

i personally dont really like w7. the w7s are too typical/mainstream and there are way more great subs out there can out perform the w7. w7 is plain SQ for me, and not much of a big BOOM. I would go with the L7 and build a custom ported enclosure for that sub. You will feel satisfied with your L7 results.

I feel the same way about the L7's I had some 15's and didnt like them sealed and ported. The 12w6v2's I loved them sounded great and got very loud.
