hello all. i'm new to car audio and all that, ha. i have recently got a car and wanted to build my own system. here is what i need guidance with. i have two jl audio 12w3v2d4's. i was wondering if some of you experts could give me some help. could you recommend a way to install them i was thinking sealed. do i go by jl's site for demetions also if i do how do i "tune" a box to get the best sound quality out of it? also, i need an amp to puch them something that will NOT blow them i would like to push them just rite without killing them. i thought about a audiobahn a8002t that 2ohm @ 2x400 wrms OR a power acoustik ts980 that runs at 2ohm @ 2x280 wrms. can you PLEASE help me out. confused in all this.

thanks,

D

i'd go ported. But im just biased against sealed boxes, because they rob the subs of so much potential output! Tune it low, say 30 hz, and you should achieve a nice, smooth frequency response and get awesome low end extension

Okay as for the box, what are you looking for from these speakers. Would you like SPL (Sound Pressure Level, loud), or SQ (Sound Quality)? If you want SPL, then you would build/have someone make you a ported enclosure. For sole SQ then you would go the sealed route. As for tuning, tuning is normally only done on a ported box, you can tune a sealed box, but most dont. For the dimensions, you would use what JL reccomends, depending on box tuning (for ported.)

And for the amp, I would not buy that amplifier. I owned it, and it gave me nothing but trouble. What is your budget for an amp, somewhere in the $200 range maybe?

get a viper 1200.1 the sudiobahn are way overrated!!! and run it at 2 ohms then if u want to upgrade u can always run it at 1 ohm, as long as ur subs are svc 4 ohm

First of all, you are an idiot. Audiobahns are not over rated, they will do at least thier rated power, if not more in some cases.

And you can not run two DVC 4 ohm subs at 2 ohms.

Also, that amp is not 1 ohm stable. It will put out its max power bridged at 4 ohms, and only stable to 2 ohms in stereo.

where do i start??? the viper is a mono amp, i had my audiobahn benched and have talked to many others with a8000t's, audiobahn is shit, and i said if there svc!! re-read my post silly!!!!

Okay that was my mistake, I was referring to the Audiobahn amplifier.

And the Viper 1200.1 is no longer produced, and IkeSound is sold out of refurbs.

I'll tell you what for the money those PA'S will knauck some watts. . .to the subs! PA makes solid amps . . . I have owned a few still own one now. have heard quite a few. .and a lot of people on here and there and everywhere run em and say they like em! not saying that I or anyone wouldnt upgrade at so time but they do knauckkk!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/peace.gif.2db28b618ed8d1964ebbe2f5021d2c39.gif

thanks guys. i am going to use the jl audios specs for the sealed box. i have decided that. as for the amp i would like to keep it at around 100-150. Ohh, thanks again for the info. and suggestions.anything else you can tell me hit me up. this sites pretty informative...so are the peeps.
