why does everyone care who's is louder at school, that's seriously dumb. and its pretty much like putting a huge sign on the top of your car that says "steal my subs!"

At my school you dont dare even let the slightest bump out of your car, otherwise by the next morning you'll be bummin' without a system.

Maybe you should consider going to a school that ISN'T crime-infested. Move out of the hood.

yup. i use to give my idMAX 1000 watts and my components 150 watts. my shit was LOUD. after using an RTA i saw that my subwoofer frequencies were about 5 times louder (taller reading) than my mids and highs. after turning my gain down to about 400 watts at maximum volume my sub is singing with my components, my RTA read-out and frequency response in general is much more flat, and it sounds so much more beautiful than it ever has before. it still hits those lows when it needs too but it doesnt "knocc" my car anymore but i dont care, sound quality for the win gives me a boner and makes me have an orgasm. having my sub drown out my components is to impress the stupid little kids that think the "going deaf" factor is awesome when in reality, having hearing sensitivity loss succs major ***. thank you bye.

I would be more concern on other things.......high school is high school and 5 years from now nobody will give a shit and probably will not even remember you.

if you are going to build a system, take your time and build it right. high school is not the place for competitions.

the way i look at it is if u wanna build an SPL system go all the way with it. tune the box high, buy some SPL subs, and feed it as much power as you can LOL.. i wouldnt even bother getting components up front in an SPL vehicle cuz its not like you'd plan on hearing them with so much ******* noisy bass.. since all you want to do is simply get loud. in conclusion, i really dont think you can get VERY VERY loud and at the same time, sound nice doing it.

if you want to go Sound Quality then by all means go all the way with it. get a nice sub or two and don't worry too much about giving its rated RMS 24/7. i use to think that i wanted to drive my sub with as much power as i could.. ive now learned thats not what i want to do.. but then again, im a SQ guy. im starting to learn to hate when ppl come on the board and say "i have a ported box tuned to 29 hz and im giving xxx watts but i'm not getting enough DBs from so and so." cuz then i think "you moron, if you wanted to go loud why didnt u tune high first of all.. yadayadayadayada" you get the point.

So im working on a type-r 15 set up in a 3.6 net box with 43.5 sq in of port and so this nub goes to best buy and buys 2 12's, an amp and a prefab box, both in 4 door cars, do u think i'll be able to be louder than him, im not sure if his box is ported or not, but either way its best buy...
