New Type R's??

The new type r's have a bunch of new features (including smaller crossovers and neodymium magnets) .... Are they worth it?

I was thinking of getting 2 pairs. with 125 rms going to each pair with a soundstream amp

Soundstream PX4.760 to be exact... thoughts?

They are good , but there is much better for the money. My morels for instance sound better and they are cheaper. I have 125 w rms feeding them also. Hertz hsk, also are better sounding. I can give you more.. Big box brand like alpine means you are paying for that name.

I have not heard the massives myself, i have heard the tweets are to bright though. Hybrid audio technologies imagine line are $250 and they will walk all over most anything in that price range. What are you looking to spend?

Morel and HSK are more than the Type-R. You could add entry level Focal to the list, but i like Type-R more than similarly priced Focal (based on several side-by-side comparisons) Type-R aren't very expensive and yes they are good and worth the money.

ESK is not a desirable set and the Type-R blow them away.

HSK are better than Type-R, but more expensive.

Does Funky Pup make components? I ran one of their subs on 200 watts but I had to sell it. I was sick of replacing my back window every week. Shit's expensive.

i have heard the new and old type-r and the new is better than the old. But the tweeter lacks detail, its too laid back. I had to turn the treble way up to sound good and the mids are meh. plenty of midbass in them , but not impressed with thw sound otherwise.

i agree with this. tweeter performance is strongly influenced by placement and aiming. you pretty much need the tweeters on-axis. I didn't like their ring radiator tweeters off axis, even from the older Type-X series. it's an inexpensive tweeter, so we can only expect so much from it. the midrange isn't as detailed as other sets but these have more midbass - but again, aiming plays a huge role in this. i think a 3-way Type-R set could be pretty decent (if you chose the right midrange).

I would like to state I clicked this in latest post section without reading the post section. Sorry for the stupid reply but I have a few friends with type r speakers and I think they are not the best speakers for your buck, they seem to be muddy and lack precision.
