New to this and need suggestions please!

I am new to this forum and am updating my new Ford Escape, it has been about 10 years since I’ve done anything car audio related so everything is new to me again. I want to get opinions and ideas on what are my best options and tell you what I have picked out as of now, a couple things to keep in mind are that I am not trying to win a show and I don’t want a lot of “boom” as in hip hop. My listening is mostly rock and I simply want it loud and clear. With that said here is what I plan on. I will be installing a Jensen VM9510 HU, Clarion EQS560 EQ, and my speakers are in the front and back doors so I have as options for 6x8 speakers a couple: Kicker KS68 or Pioneer TS-A6870R both of these seem to get good reviews but I haven’t heard either, any suggestions as to others and what size and type amp to push them. Finally a sub, right now I am pretty happy with a single 10” cheap Pioneer sub in my other truck but I want more in here, but I don’t want a huge box or to take up a lot of room, so what else should I go with as for a sub? Also what about the Amp? As for amp options would I be better off with say a 5 channel amp as opposed to two separate amps, as space is also a premium and I want to hide everything I can, but price may put that out of reach. I will be using Dynamat or similar in the doors. Any ideas, suggestions and help are appreciated.

Make MDF baffles (see the Proper Door Sound Deadening and You thread) for the 6x8's cutouts, so you can install 6.5" components instead.

As for the rest of the equipment, what kind of a budget are you looking at?

Upgrading the head unit may be something you could look into as well...at least from a build quality standpoint...

As for upgrading the HU, is the Jensen not a good unit, I like the options it has for the $$?

The type "rock" I mentioned I listen to is hard rock, so I don't want "boom" I want it to sound like I am at a concert and to be able to "feel" the bass drum.

So 6.5 componenets would be better than 6x8s? Oh and since Iposted I did get to listen to the Pioneers I mentioned and they are out, I did like the infinity 6812cf speakers though (for a 6x8). As for budget I would like to stay around $1000.

Going with 6.5" round holes will give you a lot more flexibility in choosing speakers - the choices for 6x8's are pretty limited.
