new to the car audio world and need some help

hello, im new to the whole car audio thing but i happen to know a few things. anywho, i just bought some new subs and im having this burn smell come from the ported box. smells sort of similar to when i blew my jbl gt4 12's.

here is the set up i have

2 RE audio srx 12'' each sub is wired to run 2 ohm and both speakers are bridged to one channel

fairly big ported box

jbl 1200 watt mono 2 channel amp

4 gauge power wire with 100a fuse, everything is hooked up legit.... i hope. ive double checked everything

the stats on the subs themself are 1200 watts peak, 600 rms

these statements are telling me that you may have your subs wired wrong... or more than likely your gains set wrong, and killed your subs with clipping.... what impendance are you running your subs, and how did you tune and set your gains? how was everything done "legit"?? explain a lil

ok well i ended up getting a new amp. its a kicker zx1500.1 and its making the same burn smell. i had the gain set at 25% bass boost turned all the way up, xover freq turned all the way down. on the deck i have volume at 45 to 50, bass turned all the way up (6) loud setting on high. just re did my settings on the amp, turned bass boost to half, and turned gain up to 45%. i just want my subs to run at full potential without blowing up. i upgraded all the wiring to 0 gauge, big 3 upgrade. and im about to buy a 4 farad capacitor tomaro

google how to tune your amp, or just go pay best buy to do it for you, it will be cheaped than replacing subs

there's a gain-setting tutorial around here, check it out. All u need is a multimeter or if u really wanna get it right and oscilloscope

turn the bass boost off and leave it there. set the gain with a dmm and set the low pass to around 80-100hz and go from there.

so what i did was play some white noise with my eq on flat, no bass boosts or anything. volume 30 and i turned the gain up just to where i could hear the bass. i also set the xover freq
