im new to this car audio stuff i wanted to know if i will need to upgrade to the big 3 if im running a 12 alpine type r 1000rms and a hifonics brutus brz 1200 ive heard that its pointless in the 300s cause the power is controlled by the computer and that we already have a 1/0 gauge wire running from the alt to the battery idk need help any suggestions

2 ohm or 4 ohm coils? Running that Brutus @ 1 ohm? (If not, you aren't going to see the '1200'....and likely wouldn't, anyway, with appreciable rise)

Don't know anything about the above from your OP but I am tempted to say The Big Three would be recommended, but not required, at around 1000WRMS.

Better to first know the above info, as well as what size OEM alt you have, as well as battery info.....

Looks like most came with a 130A alt, and wired at 2 ohms the Brutus is only rated at 900WRMS.

Without knowing more (size/type of existing battery, front stage, other system drains) it is hard to say this with certainty, but I don't think you're going to 'require' The Big Three (tho always recommended), and I def don't see any need for a HO alt with this small system....

A new AGM battery would prolly be a good idea if yours is not up to snuff
