Hello everyone, my name is Robert from Houston, TX. Bought my first car, a 2001 civic coupe(EM2), back when I was 19 I think. It came with two 12" subs which I was pretty happy with, they were 8 ohm wired for 4 pushing 300 watts. Recently I had a small flood in my trunk and the amp was just sitting on the floor and got ruined. My sub box also got ruined and I was tired of having this huge box in my trunk. I had to do a lot of research to step up my cars audio. Turns out when the subs where installed some steps were missed. My front engine ground was left stock, and the ground from the amp was like a 12 gauge. Upgraded those to 4 gauge from knukonceptz. Radio was also stock so no rca cables, it was tapped from the rear speakers. Also I believe my remote turn on is connected to my ignition. Upgraded my amp to a Kenwood Excelon X700-5 so I can hook my speakers up to an amp as well. Upgraded the front speakers from the paper ones to some Rockford Fosgate. Downgraded my subs to two 10" Rockford R2D2 2 Ohms with 500 watts. Next up was a box, I have no woodwork skill at all but I thought to myself how hard can this be? Bought myself some tools and wood, so far here's my results.
Needed to make a box that fit in my spare tire well. Just a little under .5 cu ft of volume so that's mainly why I went with those R2D2's.

Tried my best to have it fit exactly like the original piece of wood but it wouldn't fit in my trunk so I had to trim up the sides.

All in all I'm pretty stoked and proud of my work.
I have the carpet coming in, so hopefully sometime this week I'll have time to throw it on to make it look a little cleaner. Also I'll be cutting into the seat to hide the wires. My amp is currently on my seat with a piece of wood I'll need to carpet as well. I hope to learn a lot more about car audio from this forum, especially some fiberglass work.
