new to car audio and need help....

i could really use some help....so i just bought a 10inch audiobahn speaker i believe its the aw1005n...its 900 watt dual 2-ohm sub and the peak is 1800....and i also picked up an alpine mono power mrp-500 amp...i didnt wanna push the sub 2 hard i guess...well the guy that i bought the sub from has it in a 15 1/2 inch wide by 11 1/2 deep by 13 1/4 high box with a 2 inch hole drilled in the corner...i was wondering if the box is to small or what would be the best size box for it....i like bass but i would also like clarity....it hits decently in the box that its in but id like it to be better...also i just have the rockford fosgate 16 and 8 guage wire kit conecting the whole thing....i can send pics if need them...thanx

how much did your friend charge you?

if your sub is 900rms@ 2 ohms & peak at 1800@ 2 ohm,sub amp is 500 rms into what ohms,1-2-4???

let say if your amp is 500 watts @ 4ohms no it wont be enough wattage for that sub.

if you get that to a 1 ohm load then maybe.

when you look into a amp & sub combo's you need to figure out the rms & peak of the sub, then you figure out how much wattage you may need.

I hope your friend didnt sell you that sub for much??

i paid 50 for it acctually so it wasnt much....how can you tell the ohms

You hook up a dmm to the coils of the sub, or it probably has a sticker on the back of the sub with the imp.
