Whoah, don't get too excited about Lexan, guys. Here is a brief lesson on "bullet proof" stuff.this is true. i could have got bulletproof but why spend the extra $80 on the small sheet i got
yes i know thats why a small piece was going to be over 100Whoah, don't get too excited about Lexan, guys. Here is a brief lesson on "bullet proof" stuff.
Lexan is simply a brand name of polycarbonate, which is a simple clear plastic.
Much like Plexiglas is a brand name of acrylic.
Either material can be used in manufacturing bulletproof glass although polycarbonate is typically tougher and more impact resistant.
The material itself is not bulletproof at all. It is way too SOFT.
Bulletproof glass is made of temepered glass laminated to a clear plastic, either acrylic of polycarbonate (usually the latter) in multiple layers. It must be laminated to tempered glass in order to have any ballistic properties at all. Without a glass layer(s) the bullet would go straight through the plastic. Only the glass is hard enough stop penetration from the bullet. The laminate layers of polycarbonate is used to hold the glass together and help absorb some of the impact, preventing it from shattering. Like any ballistic material it comes in varying grades and cannot stop the penetration of all rounds.
This works similar to a trauma plate used in body armor. The trauma plate is usually ceramic which is hard enough to stop a bullet but shatters upon impact. It is usually laminated to a composite to hold it together during impact.
It is a common misconception that products with "Lexan" or "Kevlar" have bullet-resistance properties. It is the process of manufactuing that incorportates these materials which gives a final product that has ballistic properties.
lmao, bucky. It's true. I think I need better mirrors or something, or my subs are like WTFMAZING, which I doubt they are.el oh el

You want me to wrap my rear-view mirror in dynamat? Haha. Besides, it's not that big of a deal. Not really work it. But, I might have to. It keeps vibrating it off the holder that's attached to the windshield. :xYou need to dynamat your mirrors bro.
