New system...$1000

To the original poster, what car is this system going in?

There are many stock decks that are very strong performers, especially when used in conjunction with a nice LOC.

The only reason I replaced mine was to get the added features of the Alpine and because my stock system had all kinds of wacky automagic EQ'ing going on that not even a Cleansweep could have thwarted.

$20 - NE-7V

$150 - Crystal CSS6C speakers

$130 - Phoenix Gold x100.2

$200-$400 - Nice subwoofer in the classifieds (idmax, mag, w6, etc)

$200 - Phoenix Gold x600.1

$60 - amp kit

The rest you can spend on sound deadening your car. You can find different amps but they may cost more and not match (dont know if you care if they match or not).

Alright i've been reading up on Deadening my car. I'm not going to skimp on this part, and I've decided to break the $1000 barrier (as well as getting a head unit)

Because I drive a diesel, I'd like to get some nice sound barriers on as much as my firewall as I can reach. Any tips for doing this? I'm guessing a liquid barrier would work better for this.

Also, people say to deaden your wheel wells. Are you putting barrier/deadener on outside the car in the wheel well? or from the interior.

I'm looking into buying 2 x 50ft sheets of Raamat, 5 yards of ensolite, and some type of liquid deadener if I need it.

I don't know exactly what all i'll deaden, i'll have about a 5-7 day window to do the entire installation and i figure i'll play it by ear. For sure doing the trunk and two front doors.

Alright things have changed. I'm now buying a head unit (Kenwood x790) and spending closer to $1500.

Question though, I just got a great deal on a refurb orion 1200D and i'll feed 725 watts at 2 ohm to my idmax. I'm hoping to acquire a Diamond Audio D5 600.2 for my SLC 265's. My question: is this too much power for a 1000watt amp kit? (I plan on doing "the big 3" as well)

dont know what you mean

youll need 2 amp kits, one for the Orion, one for the Diamond

bump...need an answer to my question: Can the above linked 1000w amp kit setup work for an orion 1200d and Diamond Audio D5 600.2? Basically, I know that at max power, these amps total more then 1000 watts, but will I actually ever breach the 1000 watt mark?
