The larger the sealed box, the lower the tuning. So no it will not hit the higher notes better. That's a 50% increase in box size, which is ridiculous. If u want a little more lower extension, maybe go with 1.15 cubes or 1.2.

The smaller the box, the peakier it is. Or is that only with ported?

But good point Grimy, the SA-12 is recommended 1^ft sealed, so I would think 1.2 would be plenty for the SD-12. even maybe a bit much. I'd email sundown and see what they recommend.
