New subwoofer stage install, whats missing?

I'm not an all out JL fanboy either, I just like what's good and I'll admit I don't like everything they make. I think their speakers are middle-of-the-road and I don't like their subs either, and I agree with you, I don't like the design of the OP's box at all either. I wouldn't say it's useless though... looks like it could be easily turned into an isobaric enclosure but other than that, yeah basically useless. I have no idea what they were thinking firing the woofers like that and I had to check the website just to make sure it wasn't isobaric because it sure looks isobaric. Makes no sense to design the box like that unless it's isobaric, totally agree the box is bad.
Are you still spewing BS Audio control meter guy?

Box is bad! Agreed.

Called JL they really weren't that helpful. Guy told me it was a mis label of the terminals. Seems weird to me. When I asked about the DMM reading he told me what I already knew about a transducer being a reactive impedance. When I mentioned my comparison to my surely 2ohm kicker box he just said he didn't know what to tell me.

Again, box is bad!

Any thoughts on a DD SS6 being used with a pair of w6s. 2 x 800w RMS @ 2ohm . 87% efficiency ?
Seems like a dream come true.

New to DD, am I reading all this correctly?

Thx
Stick with what you have. Unless you plan on dropping a lot more money on electrical upgrades for a few dbs. Its not worth it at this point. And you will want a mono not a 2 channel.

Being labeled wrong isn't out of the realm of possibilities since most of their prefab stuff is 2 ohm. Someone may have grabbed a wrong label.

I wonder if the box was used or the shop changed the wiring to 1 ohm though(someone trying to get more power out of their amp). A wrong label AND incorrect wiring(1 ohm instead of 4) seems a little weird.

Did the tech say it was most likely wired at 1 ohm?

I don't think it's wired 1 ohm my amp would have faulted, right?

I think I will dissect the box after work today.

Well the amp isn't technically 1 ohm stable but they're "1.5 ohm" stable. At 1.3 you're close enough for it to work. I had a JL rep at a local sale the other week tell me he ran some of his HD at 1 ohm, he didn't recommend it though haha.

That amp is more than enough, wire at 4ohm will give you plenty of power. Go any bigger and your 80amp alternator will die.
I ran my 1000/1 on an 80amp alternator for 5 years and it still worked fine the day I sold it.

How do you figure 750 watts is enough for 1200 watts worth of subs? He won't hit xmax anytime soon with only 750 watts...

It is because it is. Why wouldn't it be? Please grace us with your wisdom.

I was thinking dual mono, but I hear ya on getting the electrical pumped up first.
Uhhh again, Leave the amp alone, leave the subs alone. GET A NEW BOX before anything.

Hit this guy up man

That HD750.1 should be more than enough to push your subs, just your subs are completely out of phase fighting eachother in that current box and they are struggling to breathe. You are at 10% of what the subs can actually do on that HD 750.1

I already did grace you with my wisdom. 750 watts is barely over half the power needed, xmax will be a far reach and the door to distortion will be wide open trying to push 1200rms worth of subs with 750 watts.

That would be adding a little less than double the power. Not even a 3db gain.

As long as the amp isn't clipping he shouldn't get distortion from having low power. That's like saying you get distortion when you listen at low volume.
