well my question is today i finally got metered and got a 141.5@45hz with 2 12" type r's and a 1500d. now here is my question, i have seen so many type r forum boner threads that i dont know what to believe and what not to. my car is an integra coupe so its a hatchback so i would think i wouldve gotten a lil higher number that what i did. now i asked an owner of a shop where i live on what he would suggest i do on getting louder, he told me i would probably want to look into getting some REAL subs, as he said. now i know the type r's are much more capable of doing much better than what i scored, but how much more debeez could my install add with type r's? i mean only think i could think of to get louder off what i have atm without switching equipment is get an optimal box meant for the 2 12" r's to slam for daily, upgrade amp power/ground wire to 1/0 from 2awg, and deaden the entire car. now the guy also told me deadening my car wouldnt get me louder but ive read otherwise so what does it really do? plz help me on figuring out where i should be spilling more cash into, better install equipment-or better subs?

I would work on better install first -- it makes it that much easier to change things up later on and you are able to get a much better idea how each component sounds when all other things remain the same. I would upgrade the box first as that would probably make the biggest change. Going from 2awg to 1/0 shouldn't be that big of an upgrade atleast not noticeable to the ear unless you are having huge voltage drops. Even still an alt/battery would be the best choice. Moving to 1/0 leaves you plenty of room for upgrades in the future (which often happens). Deadening may not make that much of a difference in loudness as it changes case to case, but stopping all that rattling makes the sub sound much cleaner and enjoyable IMO.

Don't listen to him about upgrading the subs he's just out for that $$

Type R's are a very capable and hearty sub and should hold you off until you get the other installation needs completed. Get the big 3 done and as always keep an eye on the voltage =)

Those subs have more potential... just try different types of enclosures //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

thx, which leads to me to ask....... anyone know whats an optimal ported enclosure for 2 12" type r's for daily?

I believe my friends usually build a 2.0@32hz for DAILY use not SPL competitions. So I'd do something around at least 3.5-4.0@32-35hz for a nice balance //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

nah man cant be the amp, i already blew my first pair of type r's and learned from my mistake the first time, also the box was quite the prefab if i dont say so myself.
