New SQL system plans..Eclipse 8200 or 7200 off 1000 rms??

^^^ high pass filter would have done some good there... power handling had nothing to do with the box, the lack of EQ is the real issue. Sure, the driver's excursion is a function of the alignment which is directly related to the box, but that is not really power handling.
There is a difference between thermal power handling and mechanical power handling. In this case, the box determined the power handling.

My point was, if he was bottoming out his system while listening to daily material (presumably), its not going to be a 10hz note. Therefore, Id rather simply cut the power to the sub abit than to truncate part of its already relatively small frequency response window. Why cut out individual freqs and lose some of the material, rather than simply cutting down on the input power, which is the real problem.
x2. and yes It was happening on music. Another reason I switched back to the 1cu sealed until I get a 2nd 8200.

Indeed, a sealed box (in particular a small one) acts just like a second order high pass filter that protects the driver //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

these things are all related. You needed to limit the excursion somehow, you can do it with the box or you can do it with EQ.

Or you could just turn the volume down, which is probably the easiest option.

I wouldn't really aim for a .707 QTC in car, because the cars transfer function more often than not will make up for the lost bottom end common to smaller than "optimal" enclosures.

Thats a nice ride, I have had an 01 grand prix gtp, same thing, supercharged 3.8 for a little over a year now and I love it. I put headers on, colder plugs, 180 thermostat, after market tune, HAI, and so-on. I haven't dropped the pulley size yet but look forward to it. Great cars, they surprise a lot of people on the streets. I hope you have good luck with it.
