I recently had my PA vx2200d stolen and decided to sell my 4 old school Concept PT 12s and report the box to get rid of PORT NOISE! I rebuilt the box that held the 4 12s to accomodate 2 15s. It seems I'm missing the punch that I thought I would gain from the air utilization of the larger amount of airspace.

Both boxes 7.5 cubes @ 35hz, subs up, 1 port firing towards rear.

Old:

Planet Audio vx2200d

4x Concept PT 12s (~600 watts each)

New:

Temp amp: Boss PowerDrive 2000d (I think, can't dind anythign on my amp for ID inside or out) (guessing ~800rms@1ohm?)

2x Sounstream T5-15s (~400 each?)

I realize I am not getting as much power as I was, but the amp was free. I assume the power based on how my 2200d performed. It takes a bit of work to dim the lights. The bass stops getting louder at a certain point while the subs arent moving much.

Amp recommendation?

Boss amp 1/2 ohm stable?

Boss amp 1/4 ohm stable with low gain?

its a boss amp. pos
wait till you get a new one and fry that one.
It holds very well at 1ohm and fans keep it cool, as far as the rest I have no idea. Suggestions? I was wanting atleast 2000 watts and keeping it 200-300 shipped. I've seen some Crunch 3000d amps floating around at a nice price but there are cheaper ways out.

both are dual 2ohm, running series parallel, then bridged to 1ohm.

TIA

and very nice subs and box, with enough power this setup shoudl really come alive. I bet the RF subs are a few dbs less efficient than the concept subs were to you are gonna need all thepower you can get.

dam howd you get that box in the trunk? i barley got mine in and its smaller than that.
It was 12" tall, just short enough to be able to place the baffle on after the box is in. I had to bend the trunk to get it in, it the biggest possible box I can take in and out easily mostly.

Audioque 2200 is 389 - you can find a cheaper amp, but more thatn likely your 2k amp that costs $200 is not gonna deliver the power you want / need at this point.
I've bid on a Crunch GP 3000d for 400, hopefully that will go well.

They are Sounstream T5-15s. 1kwrms easy, I couldn't find another T4-15 so i 'upgraded'

Save some money ($300-$400), and buy a good amp.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif
