New setup crackling issues.

Hey new to the forum i recently got a new sub and amp set-up off of Craigslist. I just took out a 12" sub out of my truck it was taking up to much room but it worked great. the problem im having is with a 10" infinity kapa it starts to distort/crackle when it gets to a certain lvl. i can get rid of it turning down my gain, but its not as loud as i would like. Is it a problem with the woofer? I might just order a new one.
