New respect for Sundown Audio

We set it first with out the subs wired, then they tested with a dmm while the subs were on... Either way, any higher and i'm clipping like a boss.
I see. So it's actually doing 48acv reactive. That's good to know. Has nothing to do with gain setting, but still. If you clamped the ac amps, you'd know actual ouput and rise.

Yeah, hopefully someday.. Thanks for your input man I really appreciate it. Its actually a lot quieter now.. somehow, but man it sounds clean //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. If you clip hard enough, the sustained voltage at the peaks lets you "play" Super freaken low, like in the video I posted a while ago (in a different thread) I was able to reach X-mec (not to mention exceed it and slam the coil) on 12Hz with SAs.. thats hard as hell to do with clean sound, but easy with crazy clipping //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Without current clamp or an impedence sweep done on the subs in the box the voltage # is useless. Last one I had that I clamped was a dual 2.8 ohm coil. Rose to just about 30 ohms in series and 4 ohms in parallel and that's just one frequency. Judging by free air impedence sweep it will offer higher impedence at other frequencies. The whole thing is irrelevent though unless you're chasing numbers.

Also bottoming out subs is not difficult, most will do it off of relatively low power when not in a box or when played well below F3 of your box. That's not taking away anything from Sundown products though, I've been impressed with everything of theirs I have tried and I'm very abusive on most equipment.

Is it safe to say that he pretty much voided his warranty posting this? Ya know, In case anything happens in the future?
All the equip is used and far FAR out of warranty, its a V1 1500D and the SAs are ~2 or 3 years old.. Thats why im beating them to hell

I don't know if this has been said or not.. but 75% gain is a tad high. Unless you've got like 2v preouts lol. I know 75% with my 8v preouts would explode errything in sight.

Da Truf.. Usually what you'd want to do if you dont have a dmm is set your HU to the loudest listening volume that you will achieve, then bring your gain up until distortion. This makes it much cleaner from the get go.

Gotcha. I don't pay attention to that kinda stuff. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
