geez whats with all the 'know it all' n00bs these days...Argee no.
If they said that to you at Circuit City dont listen to them.
I used to work there and theyd make us say anything to sell a product.
Ive heard a setup with 2 MTX9500 10" Sledgehammers and yes! They are better subs. Those 2 10's took about 900 watts RMS a piece from a HiFonics Brutus amp. And hit harder than any other setup id heard from any company ever. It hit more like 15's or maybe even 18's and sounded crisp and clear, not boomy and slow like JL's w7's tend to be. Those are some very, vsery tough subs!! They take alot of power and have a 15-20 hour break in period. JL's are highly highly over rated by people who havnt expanded their brand name vocabulary. Talk to anyone who knows about competition, JL's are talked up way to much.
Your shittin' me right. If JL is talked up way to much why are they one of the top sellers in Amplifiers and Subs? They arn't talked up it's because there bass is purely amazing. But you can't base everything off of opinions. Hard facts is what it comes down too. Yes those 9500 hit harder then any of the W7's but if you listen to the guys at JL talk they were mainly going for such a clear sounding bass at high wattage they decided to not let them "hit" as hard. But those 9500's pound like crazy. They would destroy a lot of different brands in many ways. But overall MTX will hit louder and harder but not as clear and as nice as a JL. Not saying those JL's don't pound because they do!Ive heard a setup with 2 MTX9500 10" Sledgehammers and yes! They are better subs. That comparison is totally meaningless. It really proves nothing. 10% difference in Xmax (in this case, 2.5mm) isn't noticeable. Higher power handling doesn't make it a better woofer in any way. And the rest of it is just comparing the difference in overall design and materials used....which, again, don't mean anything other than they are two different subs.I havent posted much, but figured start it off the right way. First things first, just so everyone can see the 10" comparisson, here---
