Does anyone have one of the newer model Alpine head units. (cda-9856,57)

I was looking for an older model one but have given up my search and decided to possibly go with a 9857. I dont like the fact that it doesnt have the motorized screen or ability to change bitton colors but i may overlook that if the sound quality is the same or better. I would prefer feedback on the 9857 since it had the BioLite screen.

blah.. Pioneers sux arse, unless you have the ODR or maybe DEX-P9!

Forget the motorized face and buttons changing colors. The real turnoff is the lack of time-alignment, 3-way x-over capability and parametric EQ functions of the old 9835 and 9855 models. The ONLY thing the 9857 has going for it is the full-speed iPod interface IMO.

Why did you abondon your quest for the older models? I just picked up a 9855 on ebay with all original packaging/documentation for less than $250 shipped. I did this despite the fact I have access to accomodation pricing on Alpine until the 15th of this month. That should give you an idea how crappy I think the new Alpine CD units are. I'd rather buy a discontinued used unit off ebay as opposed to getting a brand new one for a killer price.

i have a 9856 i kove it once i figure out how everything works. right know i have the ipod interface hooked never have to change cds and im about to get the bluetooth interface so i can use my bluetoth phone.

I love my pioneer, except that it got the **** pounded out of it when it was about 18" from the front of a 13w7 with 1000 watts on it daily for 3 months. Preety sure everything inside just got rattled loose, and then me driving like a bandit doesn't help it either.

But back to the thread, I'm with you in that I would rather buy an old alpine than a new one. I view the new ones as crap compared to what they used to sell, IMO.
