New Laptop Question

So I have been in college for a little over 5 months now. My master is computer science and networking. I own a 4 year old mac laptop that ha never given me any problems and still working great. The only thing is it can not run windows programs. "Except office and all" So today I took 350 dollars out of my Z fund and went and bought a toshiba laptop. It is not the best one or anything like that. But after having it for only 5 hours I am already thinking of returning it. Reason being is I rely do not see any REAL reason why I would need it. And I would rather have the money sitting in the bank for my car. So what do you think should I keep it or take it back?

Here is a link to it. I have also asked one of computer teachers he said he can not see any real reason why I would need it but than again he dose not know about my future teachers.

Its not the greatest laptop, but I would imagine much better than a 4 year old mac. I also am not a fan of mac's. Depending on what kind of networking you are studying, most of it will be on a windows computer, ie server 2008. THats a great major by the way, I am working on the same degree. Im just finishing up my cisco courses for my ccna.

Well I sort of look at it this way as soon as i can afford my new mac I am going to get one. They can run windows if need be but that is a different story. I am just trying to figure out if I should rely keep this right now.

Hackintosh. You probably F'ed up the BIOS when you flashed it.

Why cant you run windows programs? Have you tried parallels, crossover mac, wine?

I didn't flash the bios:fyi: I just know how to hack kexts and boot with EFI:veryhapp:

you sir. are a dumbshit. That means enable AHCI, or suspend mode. as in enter setup when you boot up the PC and enable/change the settings.
