New L7 sub on BX1500D

I have two Hifonics BX1500D amp's. I am going to buy 2 kicker L7'12's (ported box 1.9-2.2 qf). Should i get 2 or 4 ohms. I'll be running one amp to one sub. My questions here is which is better... 2ohm Sub i can run @ 1ohm on the Amp (about 1500watts) or should i get 4ohm subs and run it @ 2ohms (about 900watts)???

Note: Making sure to turn down gain so it wont go over the rms of the sub.

I would run them @ 2ohms. That way you wont have that many problems. Yes L7s can handle more than the rms maybe 1200rms and MAYBE 1300rms but 1500rms for daily driving wont make it. Run it @2ohms and get a good ported box for them and you will be good.

That amp will not even put out 1300w RMS. I have seen L7's take 150wRMS all day long though..

I would go for 1 ohm, the amps should do fine on that load. And do not expect 1500w from those amps, I would set the gain at 1100w RMS MAX...

True dont forget about the gain. Im not really sure how overrated these amps are. If you do decide to run it @1 ohm then make sure you set your gains correctly.

awsome guys thanks for the info. Ya iam more then sure that the BX1500D wont give out 1500Watts... my guess somewhere around 1000watts+/- . I just worried that the Amps would overheat or cant run 1ohm's that well. But from what you guys have said i feel better on running the amps at 1ohm. I just hope the amps wont give me problems.

From what I have seen, the problems with running the Hifonics amps are 1 ohm is that people are expecting to get the rated power from them, and therefore are running the amps too hard. So its more user error than an amp malfunction, although it wouldnt happen if Hifonics would rate their amps correctly.

Ya your right.. I agree. I even saw a post on this amp only pushing 900watts@13.4v ... so iam not expecting anything much but 900watts is right what i need for each L7... correct if iam wrong..

Note i wont give it all the 900watts dont want to blow them just yet .lol i set the gain

They can take 900w a piece, dont worry about that. I would just worry about the amp clipping, if there is any way for you to gain access to an O scope, I would do it...

Yeah, maybe they should adopt other manufactures marketing habits by knowing what their amps put out, but rate it a couple of hundred watts less and providing birthsheets so the consumer thinks they're getting more for their money. Maybe rating their amp at 14volts is an issue since more people than not dont have the electrical to sustain a constant 14volts under a heavy load. So many maybes......

Back on topic, you dont need to run both amps. It would be plenty for most using one amp on two l7s. I ran that combo for about a year. Before that amp, I used a Memphis 16st1000d (1100rms @ 1 ohm). I sold the Memphis and kept the Brutus, not that Memphis wasnt nice.

Ya I've seen alot of people run only one BX1500D. but i'd like to get the most out of the Amps and Subs.

I currently have one BX1500D running two 12"s CompVRs DVC in a sealed 1.9qf Box (each).. and well they dont hit that hard (well for me ). I want more now
