new HU install- won't give me an option to select Sirius?

Just installed a Clarion DXZ585USB with sirius hookups (CLA-SC1 and sirius SC-C1).

Everying on the HU works fine, but it will not even give me an option to select the sirus as an input. I went through the activation on the phone, but the HU still doesn't respond. Anyone seen this before? i found one thread while searching with a similar issue but no replies (guy replaced the HU with another and it had the same problem)

i just did an eclipse radio and had a similar problem.

read the manual.

on the eclipse you had to hold down the fm/am button then it would switch to satellite.

it may be something similar for that clarion.

The manual is pretty vague, but i've tried everything possible that it says and some things I just hoped would work and still no Sirius. The manual simply says to press the source button until the 'radio selects your satellite' which i assume to mean that as i cycle through tuner/usb/cd etc that eventually i should get to "SAT" but it doesn't.

I had the same problem with pioneer. It's supposed to auto detect the XM on the IP Bus and it then becomes an option in the source. I've had to install 3 of these HUs and each time, the XM doesn't work at first...but then all of a sudden it starts picking it up. Who the hell knows. As you, my manual is vague as hell too. You may be best off calling tech support.

Also, are you positive your Sirius adapter is getting power, a signal, the rcas are connected and the IP Bus is connected? Maybe something is a little loose.

thanks input jrwalte - i've checked and double checked all the connections and still get the same result - however i will say that the cable that connects the HU to the clarion sirius box did get bent a little when we were putting the HU in the dash so maybe there is a pin loose? I'll look into seeing if i can source a replacement cable to rule that out. Knowing that it needs signal to start picking up the sat is very helpful.
