New HT Setup in the works

I have narrowed it down to these components for my HT upgrade. This will be a 6.1 setup

Going from a 32 inch Panasonic CRT, Denon AVR3000 and Technics //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif speakers and a PB10 Sub to this:

Samsung LN-S4695D LCD

Denon AVR2807 Receiver

Axiom Millenia M60 front

Axiom Millenia M22 rear

Axiom VP150 Center

Axiom EP350 Sub

Axiom QS4 single rear surround

I am still deciding on the HD DVD player (suggestions welcomed)

oh hell yah sounds mighty good!

you will love the 2807 i got it and boy before i wouldnt buy cd's but now i am buying both hd-dvd and cds often lol

and it depends on your budget for the hd-dvd player

the a2 is less glitchy then the a1 and hte a2 can be had for around $400

but the xa2 is 1080p and the dvd upconversion is one of the best out their for any upconversion dvd player.

Interesting I have never heard the Axiom speakers in person....

Seems like the M22 might be over kill for the surround but looks ok.

How much are you planning on listening to music vs movies? 50/50 30/70?

I would say 70/30 is a good ratio.

Cool then.... I was going to say get some sort of outboard amplifier for the fronts if you weren't already planning on it...

But if you are going to be doing 70 movies 30 music you should be fine with the internal amp...

6.1 is a waste.

But you reciever is an awesome choice

Axiom, I don't know anything about what kind of price range are they in? Maybe I can suggest something else?

Tv good call as well. I wouldn't purchase and HD DvD though, thats a waste of money right now. Unless your buying a PS3.

I already have a PS3. However, I am a bit leary of using it as my main DVD player. I looked at a Samsung that upsamples to 1080i. I also I saw one that upsampled to 1080p as well but not sure what the model was and if it was the real deal.

I understand that the 6.1 will not be used in 90% of the movies out today. I am looking at things down the road. I spoke with Axiom today, prior to placing my order, and he mentioned the same thing.

For a 6.1 setup it will run me around 2400 dollars which is wayy under budget for me. So I am happy. click here for Axioms Loudspeakers.

The sales rep did indeed tell me that the M22's would be overkill for surround. He suggested the Q4's for surround and 1 M22 for the 6th channel. My main concern was the fact that if I ever installed the hardware in a room bigger than 30x20 the Q4's would be lacking. Not so, he said. He felt that they would not only do the job but do it well. So the money I save will be put towards some new cables.

A lot of people in different forums asked if I ever heard the Denon paired up with Axioms. Unfortunately I have not since they dont have a showroom nor a dealer where the speakers can actualy be heard. I look at it this way, isnt my house the best place to audition them? Since they have free shipping and a 30 day money back guarrantee, I didnt see how this would be a problem.

that upconverting dvd player is doo doo

i had it and my a1 does a way better job at upconverting dvds and my 360 was almost as good as the samsung lol

So what sort of visual difference would 1080i vs. 1080p make?

oppo forgot how its spelled sells good upconverting dvd players

and very little of any difference between the both. but if the source is 1080p say an hd-dvd and thep layer is 1080i their is no difference at all between 1080i and 1080p as long as hte source(disc) is 1080p

I may just cheap out on the 860. I really dont want to spend another 5 bills on a HD dvd player. For that price I can get a nice power center.

How much your surrounds are used and sometimes a bookshelf speaker will seriously surprise you.

I use those little DM601S3 for my surrounds and they can really get up and scream if you need them to.

i didnt even buy rear surrounds im running the 3" speakers from my hitb lol
