New High Quality System

you got some good sayings, like the duct tape one especially //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
yeah i like that one the most:D pretty much applies to everything in life lol:naughty:

When I talked to Steve from Zed Audio, he made a mistake in the first order and as a correction he said he'll send me a second amp for free (different brand, but new). He said it should be good enough to run the sub. I don't know what brand it is, but after I get it tomorrow, I will let you know and perhaps post some pix so that you could tell me whether it's good enough for the sub. I want to run the Zed amp only for the 4 rainbow speakers (if I can use the second amp for the sub).

good plan excelsius.... also, are you disconnecting your rear speakers?

As, far as my 04 accord goes, do you guys think it would sound better to disconnect the 6*9s in the back and just use the slc 265 powered by a 2 channel amp?

edit: Im also thinking of getting the Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty equalizer/sound processor because im running off the stock HU. (What do you guys think is better... the JL cleansweep or the RF?)

Yeah, I was thinking of disconnecting them because it doesn't make sense to run a pair of cheap speakers with high quality ones, even though some people said it won't matter. I'd still be interested to know whether it's worth to connect the stock rear speakers directly to the HU. If it is not going to decrease the quality or take away unnecessary power, then it might be worth it to conect them.

car audio is nothin but trying new things man, we cant garentee that you will like it better with just the comps playing without rear fill or with. Gotta try both ways out and see what you like better. Fade the sound have some fun with it. Seem like this is stresing you out, when it shouldnt gotta have some fun with it. At least IMO

ok heres the thing about rear fill.... in car audio, you want your image at the front like a concert (ever heard a concert with your back facing the band?) the rear speakers are pretty much useless. the only possible use for them is rear fill....

now rear fill is like this...when your at a theatre listening to an orchestra, the wall behind you use special material to stimulate sound spread... now most of the sound is comming from the orchestra in front but, some sound bounces off the wall and you feel a slight presense in the back.... this is rear fill. Because of this, the rears speakers should only play at 5-10% of the volume of the fronts.

due to such a low volume it is pretty hard to tell between a set of stock crap speakers and highend midabass speakers....

some like rear fill and some don't they say even a slight rear sound ruins the soundstage...personally i like rear fill.

Leonsv. Would you recommend getting a 2-channel amp to power the SLCs (connected to the RF 3sixty first) and then simply connecting the Sony 6*9s to the RF 3Sixty without extra amplification? Thats what I'm thinking of doing.

I think the three sixty would be severe overkill for a passive setup. Also you cannot connect your 6X9s directly to it...its a processor with highlevel INputs..Youll either have to ditch the rears (preferred) amp them or run em off of HU power.

agreed

Ok, Ive made the decision to ditch rears, and are you guys saying the RF 3Sixty is not worth it? I was going to get an ipod adapter/aux input for my car ~$130, but i thought maybe it would be better to get the RF 3sixty to clean up my audio signal and since its got the aux input I could plug in my ipod. For the most part (70% of the time) I'm going to be using an MP3 player instead of CDs.

What do you guys recommend... RF 3sixty.1 or the Ipod/aux adapter for around 150 less?

Edit: Ive also got dual sealed 10's already installed, don't think that makes a difference though.

I'd be interested to know about mp3 player hook up as well. Even though I am not replacing the HU, it would still be good info for future. I mostly use the Creative Zen mp3 player to connect it to my car's AUX-in plug. The problem is that I think that I'm loosing a lot of quality this way. What do you think would be the simplest way to get a better quality (e.g., using interconnects between the player and the AUX that have a larger diamater to decrease the resistance).

6spd, I've got to get the speakers today. I have ordered all the other parts.

if aux input is what you are after, get a rf 3sixty....it'd only 150 more and fixes the shortcomming of your factory system... also it has some eq and will make the system sound better...

Any recomendations on some good 2 channel amps for ~$250?... Also anything good in that price range for a 4 channel.... I'm still torn over the issue of letting go of the rear fill... If I keep the rears in I'm going to amplify them (Im going to have this car for a while), but would need a 4 channel for about the same price, maybe up to $300.

Im scared that going with the Front sound stage only will not sound "full". So what do you recommend... what would be best for sound quality?:

Amplified Front soundstage (rainbow)

or

Amplified Front soundstage (rainbow) & Rear Sonys (also amplified)

If the sound will be better with the front soundstage only, then I will go that route and disconnect the rear fills... I don't want to run the Rears off of the HU.
