New High Quality System

While I'm waiting for the SLC speakers, I'm talking in other forums as well. I was recommended Phoenix Gold over JBL amp. I made a mistake too - PG is more powerful than JBL in terms of RMS.

Regarding the LOC, some guy told me that JL Clean sweep is the only one that can give a clean signal from HU. What do you think?

Cleansweep is a negative you still get a clean signal thro a LOC, i still recomend upgrading your HU tho. on teh PG thing ive seen some bad reviews on there octane series but positive on all other, and ive never seen a bad review on an jbl amp

OK. Tell me which amp should I choose:

a used Diamond D3 for about $60 (or new for about 120) or the Phoenix Gold that I listed? Some say I won't hear any difference. (or the JBL?)

This is so **** tough man!

yeah i mean both the jbl and pg are great amps, if you want flexibility get the pg cause it makes the same power at different ohms,

and the jbl is more powerful...

123 x4 rms @ 4ohm vs 100x4 rms @ 4ohm...

The jl cleansweep is a eqalizer, it corrects factory deficiencies and lets you tune your system, but i'd doubt you'll want to pay $300 for it on a $600 budget...

and he's full of crap for saying that the cleansweep is the only loc type product that gives clean signal....the navone does everything the jl does in terms of loc functions and not equalizer function... it provides a clean signal.....also tell him about the alpine h701 or rockford fosgate 3sixty or audiocontrol products...he clearly knows nothing of factory integration products...

So Leon, do you think that I could hear a difference between a Diamond D3 and that JBL? If you think so, then I'll forego buying the used D3 for $80 (shipped) and get that JBL. But I need good reasons. People are confusing me. I really **** at this and now understand how some of my classmates feel in my physics class!

lol, i can't really tell you anything except i really like jbl stuff because i have no experience with diamond d3's in my opinion the jbl looks better, has more power and are a better quality, (jbl top of the line vs diamond lowest line)

but it's up to you..... ask around a bit more

You are right about the power. I should go with JBL since it's much more powerful than the Diamond D3. That will work only if the SLC speakers are powerful enough. I'm assuming they are.

as long as you set the gains right more power never hurts, the good thing about more power is that there is head room, so the amp runs cooler and more effectively giving you less chance of distortion. I would take the jbl's just because i think they are amps i can use in almost every set up that i can think of doing, because of their high power...

also they are well built and the plexi glass is just so sexy...

I just hope my SLC's come through soon enough. I E-mailed three people and haven't heard from anyone. If you find one, let me know.

The last questions:

1. Can I get cheap, quality RCA's and Installation Kit from RadioShack?

2. I have to take my car somewhere to have the installation done. How can I judge the quality of work? I read something about crossover, etc, but didn't quiet get it. I know that I'll know when they do sloppy work. If they make a single mark on my brand new car I'll have them lick it until it's clean, otherwise have them replace the entire part (I'm really nuts about have dirty things, except when you're with another "dirty" being - a girl). But how else can I judge quality work?

Oh yeah: should I use the stock speaker covers? I read somewhere that new speakers have speacial covers that allows most sound to get out without much interference with the cover.

1. go to knukonceptz.com they have awsome rca's, you shouldn't pay more than 20 buck for rca's.

2. you can but it'll cost money, i think you should try this yourself as the install is not that complex. but if you do let somone else do it, visit small family owned car audio shops instead of places like bestbuy or circuit city they do horrific jobs

just use stock, unless the stock doesn't fit the new speaker

and about the rainbows, send a private message to 6spdcoupe on this forum, he sells them, and give lukas from audiojunkies a day or so to answer, he's really busy these days...

Hi, Im going to be doing pretty much the same thing on my 04 accord. Keeping stock HU. Im getting the slc 265 kicks, keeping some Sony 6*9s in the back, and was thinking about getting a USAmps XT1600.4, and a LOC.

Question is... would I be better off with a 4 channel or 2 channel amp? Do I need a equalizer/crossover? And, do you think I could do this as my very first install?

Thanks.
