New here and looking for any tips or advice!

Ya I have a multimeter although i bought another harness adapter and am just going to redo all the wiring. It looks like the previous owner was running gauges off the power wire for the head unit so I'm just going to redo everything and ill probably just soder the wires this time and then ill go from there. Thanks for letting me know though if I'm still having troubles I will be testing the rca cables and I still plan to add a secondary ground once I find a decent spot for it

Well I tried everything I re did all the wiring except I was left with an all blue wire coming from the HU pigtail which I'm thinking is for an antenna that I dont have and the orange illumination wire from the adapter pigtail that's not hooked up. Either way I took the multimeter to everything and it does seem that the rcas are getting at least some kind of signal. I'm starting to think my brand new fosgate amp is defective. I'm going to try to hook my sub up too the fosgate amp and see if it works tomorow.

Could you take a pic of the amp connections and settings that is clear enough to see where everything is plugged in and set?.. that may show anyone helping something obvious...

Ya ill do that in the afternoon. Although I've hooked amps up before and its all pretty self explanatory ive just never hooked them to stock speaker wires but i did what everyone said and the speakers were working for a whopping 5 minutes or so lol. So it seems I probably have a bad connection somewhere but after adding a ground and redoing all the wiring I have no clue.

Ok so it appears my brand new fosgate amp was defective from the factory because I left all the wiring the same and plugged in my old beat up wolfenhang or whatever amp and everything works like it should. Luckily I bought it off amazon so it should be easy to return

Hey guys I have two questions if I have 2 4 ohm speakers hooked into 1 channel on an amplifier that creates a 2ohm load correct? Also I don't remember ever having an input level high or low button and I nust don't understand what it does exactly because with my sub I think I have it on high because on low its ridiculously loud and distorting but with my speakers on high there super quiet and seem underpowered but on low they have the perfect amount of power?

High and low level inputs refers to using speaker wires from the h/u as a signal input to the amplifier (high level) or using RCA inputs for the signal (low level).

Ok thank you for clearing that up for me! I guess I had my sub on the wrong setting then. I'm going to have to turn the sub settings way down now because its crazy loud on the "low input setting" but that's what it is if its connected with rcas right?

Ya well I have a jl audio slash 500/1 amp and its kind of confusing because it doesn't have anything labeled gain or even a voltage. It has a db boost, center frequency, infrasonic frequency, "Q", l.p. filter frequency, and slope.

Ok so now that I have the amp thing figured out 'll curious what else I should do to improve my "soundstage" the front speakers are 5.25 components but I've heard a lot of good things about kick panel speakers. How do you guys feel about those setups? Q logic does make them for my car to fit 6.5 components or 5.25 components although there 200$ what if I just tossed a 6x9 in a box down in the kick panel area, for a on a budget method lol?

the next step to improve your soundstage is to slap a few stickers on your windows. The best thing to do is put stickers of brands you dont even own. I suggest a DC Audio, Hertz, Focal, Dynaudio, Image Dynamics, A/D/S/ and Phoenix Gold to start. The stickers make all of your current speakers louder and increase wattage from amps that may or may not even be in the car. Itll even make the systems on the cars around you louder and cleaner sounding!!
