New here and looking for any tips or advice!

Ok so I got the new head unit, new amp, and all the rcas plugged in. First problem is my phone will connect to it via Bluetooth and will even display all the track data and will say its playing on the head unit but I get no sound. Problem 2 the radio works but on any source if the volume is at 0 there's no noise but if you turn it up even to 1 there's a farely loud buzzing that doesn't go away. I moved around all the settings on the amp with no luck my rca cables aren't next to my power wires either so I'm kinda out if ideas.

check your grounds

edit: while youre at it check everything else, but kinda sounds like a ground issue for the buzz stuff. Bluetooth might be the volume output from the phone issue. While its connected and playing something, unlock your screen and hit the vol+ rocker on your phone

There's only one ground and it looks fine although this morning the radio was working like it was last night (all speakers and sub) but I had the HU just hanging out since I was still working on it but u had to drop my son at school this morning so I pushed the HU into its cubby and now none of the speakers work only the subwoofer works. Grrrr

does the sub work without the buzz?

symptom youre describing is a severed connection from pushing the deck in.

Look at it this way, at least its probably not as big of a pain in the a$$ to pull your deck out as mine! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif (mines actually not that bad //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif )

On a side note I have a 99 grand prix gtp and I can have my deck out in 10 seconds but it's still a pain not knowing what the heck is wrong that the whole HU works right as it should even my subwoofer. But just my speakers don't work?

I just used regular but crimps

u have to check crimps on all those wires pull on each and see if any pull out..
this is what i was driving at

there have been peeps that needed to add 2 ground to hu..
running a bespoke ground to a hunk of metal behind your dash is never a bad idea (unless that hunk of metal isnt connected to the chassis of your car, that is) as the ground (and power for that matter) are usually pretty inadequate for most anything beyond the stock deck. The vehicle engineers usually try to use the thinnest gauge wires possible as theyre going to be using MILES of the stuff when churning out hundreds of thousands of cars and can save a drastic amount of money when using a few #s thinner gauge wire wherever possible without creating an issue that will blow up in their faces

Well I had am aftermarket deck before and it worked fine. Thus deck does have a lot more features and the 3 rca so I guess ill try to find a good ground since there's no harm in that. And I quadruple clamped those suckers and all the wires are tight as can be and not coming out

Is there anyway to test the rca output and cable to make sure they are transferring signal. Like with a multimeter or something?

Set the meter to AC volts and play music. One end of the RCA cable must be plugged into the source unit. Put one multimeter lead on the barrel and the other lead goes to the tip.
