New HCCA subs.

Over the last few days, I went to a shop here and checked out what they carried. Memphis, Fosgate, Orion, Kicker....all good brands. I saw they had the new HCCA 12 dual 2 ohm on display. I like those subs. Read the spec sheet and all. The guy said they only need .81 of air space, and I saw 1.81 in the sheets. Maybe that was for ported? Kinda small tho, right? Anyway, the site does say .812. So...he asks if I was intrested in those subs, and my fiancee jumped and said "Hell yeah he is!" I was rather tickled. So, with the price he offered them to me for, I think those are my next choice.

Any pros and cons about them? I watched the testing videos of them, and its very intresting to say the least. Anyone here have any experience with them?

The Sub

The Sub Challenge

I liked watching the sub challenge. Most of the subs are a couple hundred $$ cheaper and rated at about 1000W instead of 2000-3000W. Not to take anything away from the Orions, just not a fair comparison

Uhm. Here...in shops.....the soloX is more than the 15" HCCA.....so is the JL-W7s, and the 9500s are about the same price, and the Stroker is a little more, the stroker PRO is MUCH more.

So I think the challenge was fair. ESPECIALLY when you hear that Sub A can be hooked up to a wall socket for hours and still play fine. LOL.

By the pricing of local shops here....

2 HCCA 12s = 1-13W7

2 HCCA 12s = 1 SoloX

2 HCCA 12s = LESS THAN a Stroker

2 HCCA 12s = lil less than 2 9500s.

2 HCCA 12s = 1-15T1

I'll prolly go to shops that dont carry orion, and see what they say, just to see how bad they bash them really. One shop here wants to carry Orion, but for some reason he cant, so I know he can prolly tell me some vital info. He also carries kicker and JL. A few other places carry RF, MTX, JL, and Kicker....only 1 place around carries stroker, and he's limited because he works out of a shop he built on the property next to his house.

So all they are proving by the videos is that it is clearly less efficient?

I dont get it, i thought they were supposed to be promoting it. "Here is a picture of an hcca with 3000 watts barely moving against a W7 with 1000 shakin the room, oh shit we gave the w7 tripple it's rated wattage, poof!"

I heard the HCCAs on 1000wrms (appx) and they sounded pretty **** good to me. Same box they were in a 12w7 was in, and I didnt hear the W7s, as they were already removed, but a customer that was in there said the w7s were loud, but not as loud, and not nearly as deep.

They were on a hifonics amp, some XX model that's supposedly 5000 watts rms.

So I think the challenge was fair. ESPECIALLY when you hear that Sub A can be hooked up to a wall socket for hours and still play fine. LOL.
for giggles, have the dealer plug one into a wall socket, and see what it does... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif not what orion says it will do, see first hand...he can always send it back in, because they advertise it can, correct?

Well, look no further. The new Orion HCCA subwoofers are the baddest subs on the planet. Hands down. You could call our HCCA sub a “super woofer”, but really it's the superior woofer!

I hardly doubt that hype, but if price was right I would grab em...maybe

Wow...you just have to laugh at that "test".

They throw #'s out there like they know what they are talking about.

This chart is VERY misleading:

3000 W into 3 ohms = 94.87V 3500 W into 3 ohms = 102.47 V 4500 W into 4 ohms = 134.16 V

3000 W into 4 ohms = 109.54 V 3500 W into 4 ohms = 118.32 V 4500 W into 8 ohms = 189.74 V

3000 W into 8 ohms = 154.92 V 3500 W into 8 ohms = 167.33 V

Ha..

They give all these values w/ only voltage and guess at actual AC power based on DCR.

For all we know, the HCCA could be getting insane box rise. They never bother to state current.

Either way....that power was MORE than the rms for all of them, regardless. I forget where I saw the ad, but they had stated that the W7s can be plugged into a 120 or 240 AC outlet and still play.

I'll still do more research and listening before i make my decision. I got a couple months.
