So I just got a 03 VW Jetta recently and of course the sound system is not that great. I am planning on investing in a new system. The only thing I have right now is my HU. I want to do things right this time and joined because I need guidance.

This time I want sound deaden the whole car and don't know how much I would need for , roof, floor, doors, firewall, trunk and etc. Any recomendations on what brand to go with I was really leaning towards FatMat

I want to get an Alpin Swr-12

Mono block alpine 500w amp

and sooner or later I want to buy 2 pair

Alpine SPR-17S components. and amp it with a

MRX-F30 - Alpine 4-Channel 600 Watt Max Speaker Amplifier

I would be willing to consider other equipment if it is as good. I heard the SWR and fell in love with it.

THanks everyone!

Thanks so much murph, When I heard the type-r it he said he was pushing 900w to it, but the 1000w amp from alpine is 275 dollars, is there a more reasonable amp? I mean I would like to keep in the same brand but if 500w is too small for type r I don't want to get it

You can e-mail don@ sounddeadenershowdown.com. He can give you a good idea of what it will take to completely deaden your car.

Also, those Type R components are an old model; I'm not sure if you knew that. Here are the new ones: Alpine SPR-60C (SPR60C) 6.5" 2-Way Type-R Component Car Speakers. And you can most likely get better quality amps than those Alpines for cheaper. Matching amp brands to speaker brands isn't important; the same goes for speakers in general. You'll find that most people choose one brand for their midwoofer, and another for their tweeter, etc. I haven't heard those components so I don't know what to tell you. I'm sure others here have, though.

Welcome to the forum, by the way.

lol I emailed him, thanks a lot everyone. Y'all are much nicer than the last forum I joined for VW enthusiasts. Then if everyone doesn't match everything up should I start from ground 0 with everything? I don't know who makes good amps and who doesn't, same for components tweeters and etc. I just know for sure Im set on the sub

Well, I would say that you should browse the review section and search in the speaker section for 6.5 components within a certain budget(if you have one), or you can just start a topic asking for opinions. But, I'm sure you'll have people in here giving you ideas. Are you going to be buying any of this soon?

There are a lot of great brands of deadening out there such as Fatmat, but there are other brands in the market that should be avoided. Usually you get what you pay for. If it is cheap there is a reason for it. Our team uses American Bass sound deadening and love it. Good luck with your plans!
