I m gonna switch to spinning next and give them a shot they have a pretty good combo for sale at academy right now for like 30bucks.
but right now I need rods not reels

Not a fan of ugly stik yea there indestructible but they lack sensitivity. I love penn for spin cast personally and you cant beat zebco for easy pan fishing

The actual rod I am getting is rated at 30-60 pounds. That is the closet thing I could find on their website although they have it in store.

Shimano Sahara 2500 on an 7' ML Allstar ASR is an amazing budget set up

Good luck catfishing for 30-60 pound blues with that. If you are fishing for bass an ugly stik is horrible.

Meh i prefer Abu Garcia/Ambassador

Can't beat the 33 lb lever drag on this baby for anything in the price range.

That my favorite rod and abu garcia c5 one and c3 are my tournament reels.
and they hold up to saltwater fish. I easily pull in 36inch reds with no line stripping

Youll have a hard time with a 20inch redfish itll prolly break the worm drive gears or at least strip the drag out. I like the zebcos but they **** for big fish and 5lb bass have nothing on 2lb reds

Guess I better break out the 808 then. i've got about 20 rod and reels and have never paid more than $50 for them. I have caught thousands of fish but love the 60 pound cats I caught out of clarks hill lake. I caught a 7 pound bass with a $15 firebird from walmart a month a go.

Zebcos are good reels but for people who fist alot the worm gears that rool up the line get worn out fast and I can reach alot further out with my abu than my zebco.

I love zebcos for freshwater put them on a decent rod and they are ok for bass fishing. But one down fall is retrieve speeds my 3 abus have 3 different return speeds so I dont wear out my wrist trying to get it right.

And my most expensive set up cost me 140 but I get most of my stuff for 80 or less.

bought this litttle dakota combo from walmart couple years ago and I couldnt wear it outwith 50lb spider wire I reeled in quite a few reds and big black drum with it. It was great for 15bucks
