The lower priced ones definitely don't look very good(but they are also 5V/55ohm decks for under $200). The higher end ones look better but not great.

I like the look of the new head unit that eclipse is coming out with. Even the low end unit has a 5V55 ohm pre-out............nice.

if you like the look awsome- i don't and it clashes with my interior. My local shop has one or two of the lower units on display.

Does your shop have the new 05 units on display? I have a old 2001 model, so I guess I like the updated look of t he 05 units.

I need help in choosing a head unit. I am having my system hooked up but my head unit which i ordered a Pioneer Avic-n1 is as they claim difficult to find. so for the time being they replaced it with an eclipse avn2454 but i know nothing about this unit. if anyone could please help with some insight. my intire system consists of: 2004 ford f150Pioneer Avic-n1 VS Eclipse Avn2454

3- 13.5w7

3- sets of JL audio components csi 650

3- v12 1000 watt alpine amps

1- v12 540 alpine 4 channel

4- farad capasitors

1- optima battery

4- monitors through out

Now the last thing is the head unit which is the most important but the only two that I research was Alpine Iva9001 or pioneer avic-n1.

avn is a very nice unit- better touchscreen, better and best user friendly navy- has its own dvd drive apart from audio so you dont have to take in/out navy disk everytime....good unit, could benefit from a line driver of course to raise the signal- for '05 Eclipse added 5v/5oohm outs to the avx/avn series to correct that

The N1 is slated to be replaced in very short order with the N2 (part of the reason why the N1 is hard to find). The N2 is the better of the two units for the Nav function and bells and whistles, however the Eclipse will bend it over and spank it's a$$ for overall system capabilies. The two units sound drastically different, the Eclipse being the better of the two + a better warranty and theft deterrent. Choose the unit based on the needs.
