New Double Din H/U??

I've got a 2002 Audi A4 with the Symphony H/U 6 disc in dash with Bose spakers. I want to replace it with an 2 din aftermarket deck. Here are the one's I'm looking at: Alping IVA-W200, Eclipse AVN5500, Kenwood Excelon DDX-8017 or Pioneer AVIC-D2. Any suggestions would be great. I know the Pioneer and Eclipse have built in nav. Although it would be nice to have its not a deciding factor. I want one that will give me the best sound quality. I'll also be replacing the factory speakers with better comp. speakers and a 4ch amp.

jluv, I like the alpine setup with the H701, but don't want a seperate nav system. If i get nav, I want it to dispaly on the head unit or built in. But thanks for the suggestion.

With the W200 and the Blackbird your nav will be displayed and controlled from the touch screen head unit. You can stash the Blackbird in your glove box or center console and you'd never know that the nav wasn't built in straight out of the box. But then you can take the Blackbird with you on your person or into another vehicle. Best of both worlds.

i havent heard to good of things about the z1 seeing if your going to use it for nav you cant input where you want to go while driving you must be parked, other then that it is a great unit...

ill throw a reccomendation in there for the Alpine W200.. Just got installed and its top notch! Ipod is very fast and prolly the best ive used.. I had a kenwood before this and the ipod adapter on that and navigation dont even begin to compare with the Alpine..

Thanks for the input. After some more research I noticed that the Pioneer Z1 and Alpine W200 only have 2 volt preamp outputs. I know the Eclipse AVN5500 and Kenwood Excelon DDX-8017 both have 5 volt preamp outputs. How much difference will this make? Does any one have the Kenwood or Eclipse unit? Thanks

Thanks for the input. After some more research I noticed that the Pioneer Z1 and Alpine W200 only have 2 volt preamp outputs.

IIRC the Alpine W200 with the PXA-H701 processor will boost the preamp voltage to 4V. Voltage isnt really that big of a deal but lets your amps work less by keeping your gains down and decreasing the chance of noise. I personally having been thinking about get the W200+H701 and navigation later if needed. Its combination seems to have the most flexability and add on options if needed.

I would go with the eclipse 6600(if you want to use an ipod) or 5500. The sound is superior. You don't believe me? Call or go into a high end store that carries both and ask them which they like best. I have done this at 6 different stores and they ALL said eclipse. Only a guy at best buy said alpine, and they don't carry eclipse. If you want bang for the buck, go for the single din pioneer avic n3. I have seen them for $1150.

Thanks for all the info. I have narrowed it down to the Kenwood Excelon DDX-8017 or Eclipse AVN5500 or 6600(not sure if its worth the extra cost). Any info on the Kenwood? Thanks
