Though I don't buy trucks or muscle cars without a V8, I understand people who want the look and reasonably quick performance with a cheaper purchase price and insurance bill. What I don't understand is people who get the cheaper engine to save a few thousand then make up most of the difference modding the engine to try to get the sound and performance closer to that of the V8 version. 3-4 model years old, 20-30K, coulda had a GT for the same price and you wouldn't need to roll this into another car purchase in a few years.
A lesson I have learned the hard way: Go big or go home. It's actually cheaper to pay more for what you really want today and hold for awhile than to get something cheaper today and then trade it in a few years. For what it is it's a fantastic bargain, but IMHO still not worth paying that much for something you know for a fact will go away in a couple years. I'd have gone a little older with a few more miles to get a V8 in the budget or else held off till I was ready for a really good GT.
Keep in mind this is based on what you're saying. If you had said this was all you wanted and you had no interest in a V8 I'd have said fantastic deal, more power to you, and left it that.
