New car shopping

Hey everyone. As i said last week, I crashed and totaled my car. After the insurance payed off the rest of the loan i have $777 left over from that. I need a new car as cheap as possible. I drove a Mazda MX-3 the other day. He is asking 1200 for it. It is a 5 speed, just passed inspection. The clutch was replaced 3 years ago, and there are about 160k miles on the car. for 1200 is this a good car? How long would you assume the clutch has yet. It shifts through all gears fine but the shifter is stiff. Driver side mirror isnt there.

I decided to keep all my stuff. I may put the Type R comps up for sale and get some bostons or something. But I like the sub and amps too much. Those cadence TXA amps cant be beat for what I paid for them.

Looks alright for 1200, as long as, like it was said, it has a good interior. Check a carfax report or so, make sure it wasn't in any wrecks. Check for mismatched paint jobs and aligning on the edges of the bumpers, quarterpanels, and doors, to see if parts were replaced outside of an official job.

What you can get is limited mostly by how well you know cars - if you can fix up a car pretty well, you could get a cheap car with some problems, fix it yourself. If you can't, you'll need to find something reliable. I haven't heard great things about the reliability of a mazda, but they aren't bad. It's at least a little sporty, just needs a good wash and wax.

The body is in good shape, besides the driver mirror. The interior has light wear and tear and needs to be vacumed but all in all is in decent shape. My biggest thing is the motor. It ran well, but I didnt drive it very far.

As for doing engine work, I can do simple shit like change the oil, check fluids, maintinance stuff. I have friends though who are very much more mechanically inclined than myself and they always help me out with my problems so I dont think it would be an issue there either. They can fix anything.

I have never owned a manual car before, and it is one thing i wanted this time. How long does a clutch last though on average? I guess that might depend on the driver as well though.

i bought my mazda truck in febuary had 130k miles on the clutch and had been driven as hard as a $5 ********** i put another 10k on it before i had to replace it. if it shifts through all the gears and its not slipping it sounds like your clutch slave cylinder is going bad which should be replaced fairly soon because it will start to leak, at which point you will get brake fluid on your clutch discs=no more clutch not to mention if you have an open bell transmission then you can replace the cylinder yourself for about $100 which i would recommend finding out as there is a tendency to charge $300+for labor
