New Amp, Stuck In protect Mode! Red Light!

well i use to have a mtx 1200w amp 600rms or something like that I gave it to my buddy for his windstar and it worked just fine in my car, plus I only had a 12g or the ground n it was mounted on a seat Bolt! ( old setup)

Have you switched the ground point? That ground looks solid, but is that just an extension of the chassis? It looks as though it may not be a solid connection. Otherwise it may be an internal amp problem or bad luck with two defects.

Lol. Same thing happened to me the other day. Although mine is 7k.

possibilities...

#1 - bad amp. Shipping does hell on electronic components.

#2 - bad ground. Highly doubt that though if your grounded to the frame

#3 - you blew a cap/s during initial powerup.

I moved the Ground To above the Wheel well. My meter zero's at 0.02 ohms. and with the red prob on my Amp Ground terminal And the black on bare metal floor pan i read between 0.02 ohms and 0.04ohms. is this acceptable? I discount the battery negative Before touching any wires to amp. i find it unlikely the Amp has any problems. No discoloration on the fuses.

the amp is bad man no need to waste money on 0 gauge to run from the - batt that's retarded

using the ground on the amp test the power and remote wire to make sure they are both getting over 12v if so the amps bad for sure 100% if it goes into protect with no rca or speaker wire hooked up

well, here's a little off-topc, but related tid-bit...... there is this electrical company called ricky stator (and it's related ricks stator).... well, they used to make some decent high output stators for atv's, buikes, sno-go's, etc...... some years back, they totally went to crap. about the same doa rate mentioned in this thread...however (her's the weird kicker) of those doa's, most report that they recieved repeated doa exchanges before actually getting a good one. not sure what happens there, but it is not unheard of, nor unlikely to have a higher exchange doa then market doa. all i can speculate is that the exhange is coming from qcfail repairs, or something... also, did you try the discharge/recharge i've mentioned? it's gotten me more than once. hooked up the amp, and got the spark, and the thing is dead...messed with it, then threw it on the desk and tell the guy it's doa.... well, now i look bad, because he picks it up a week later, and hooks it up to see it working just as good as it did before....

i got the amp to go green. in my room with the same wiring and a jumper for the rem on a car batt
then the problem has to be in the wires in your car.... i vote the ground needs to be checked again..., or just run a separate ground wire from the battery to the amp..

or.... do the big 3 ...

I did Buy another 20 feet of 0 AWG wire and Run it has my ground from the batt to the amp. still fires up in protect. so may its the big 3. but if im getting like 12.v or + that would mean its getting enough power Rite.
