I currently have a Octane R 8.0:1 (600 rms) and a Xenon 12'' 2 ohm sub. I hit 147.3 Db. But thats not loud enough for me. I Just bought the Xenon 1200.1 And NOW... Should i turn the amp down to run 1 sub, Get another Xenon, or get a TI elite? AGGGHHH so many choices!

i have the same amp and is it not only a 2 ohm or 4 ohm amp so why did u hook up a 2 ohm sub wouldn't that only give u a 1 ohm load or 4 ohm load???

just curious

Amps dont have a specific resistance they will work at. Take basic high school physics and talk to your teacher about it if he/she doesnt go into it.

In this case, because the sub is a dual voice coil sub, yes. In the sace of a single voice coil sub, the answer would be no. With single voice coil speakers, the resistance cannot be changed without the aid of another speaker. With dual voice coil speakers, it can be.

Sorry, I should go into more detail with this. An amplifiers internal hardware will be stable down to a certain resistance. This is because of heat. Less resistance means more power, which inturn creates more heat. The only thing you have to think about when operating an amp at certain resistances is wether or not it is BELOW the minimum resistance it can handle.

For Example

I have Brand Poop amplifier hooked up to brand Poopy subwoofer. The subwoofer has dual voice coils, each with a 2ohm resistance. Poop amplifier is stable at 1ohm. In this situation, Farkwad can wire his sub in series or parallel. Series showing the amp a 4ohm load (2+2) and parallel showing the amp a 1ohm load (2/2). Either way, in this situation is fine, because the amp is stable at 1ohm, so anything above that is absolutley fine.

If the Poopy sub was dual 1ohm coils though, he SHOUDL NOT wire it in parallel, because 1/2 is .5ohms, and his amp is only stable down to 1ohm.

Did ya get me here or did I just confuse you?

You post a lot o BS flakko, I just realized you have 3.3k posts in one year. lol.
i do my best. actually most of my posts were in the last few months //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

What is with all these new people.....

agreed.

cpierce- join date March 2005. now is that the pot calling the kettle black or what?

i would also like to see pics of this install. how can someone, with as little knowledge as the poster provided, hit 147.3 with 600 watts rms? what mic was this on? i say buy the xenon amp and get as many subs as you can fit/afford in your car.
