New alternator or rewind the stock?

Alright, I'm about to build my new system, and I'm sorta new so soory if this is a retarded question.

I'm gonna be putting slightly under 3000W on this system between the door speakers and the subs, and my alt's putting out 115 amps.

I talked to a couple people, and one just suggested getting a bigger alt, which was what I was thinking. He said it'd run anywhere from $200-$400.

Now, the other guy (a local car audio place) said I should go and get my alt rewound and have a smaller pully put in it, but it'd cost $600-$800. Qute a bit mor ethen I wanted to spend to fix this problem.

Now, I'm trying not to cut corners on this build, so I want the best possible fix. Would just buying a bigger alt be the best go? Or is there another alternitive that would work best, maybe a second battery?

800$ for a rewound?

your much better off with a HO alternator. if something ever happened to your HO alt, you can always put on the stock alt. With a rewound alternator, your stuck with it, and its not a good scene driving on a non-functioning alternator

Hm, cool, I wasn't quite happy hearing that I was gonna $800 to rewind my alt. I can defiently do a new one.
for the price, its definately not worth doing a rewound. If you go with the HO alternator, look into Iraqqi or Excessive Amperage.

this way you have two alts. So if you ever wanted to sell your sound system and don't need the HO alternator nomore, you can always sell it and put your stock back in

True, true. Same reason I kept all my stock stuff. If I happen to sell the car, I can keep the system.

Thanks for the help!

your best off with a new alt, but first look locally to buy a HO alt and compare with online companies. they might be a little more but a local long time in business local company has their advantages.

Yeah, defiently. My coud a nice deal on his 180amp alt from a local place, I'm gonna drive up there when I get the cash and take a look around. I know there are a lot of companies here (Ohio) that make generators and alternators, so hopefully I'll be able to snag a deal. Any cleu how big I should look if my system will be pushing near 3000 W? 1250 on each sub, 200 on each door coaxs.

an alt would be a good investment on a true 3000 watt plus system but at the same time i would at least upgrade your underhood battery. best luck as far as daily performance i have had in batteries is kinetik.
